Sikhism is all about to serve for humanity.thought behind to do langar is to finish all kind of discrimination. All the food come from people's contribution. they don't force , people contribute as per wish of, how much they want. They help people who lives Underprivilege. All the workers do selfless job without expecting anything.

Unknown facts about harimander sahib 1.First brick of harimander sahib led by a Muslim saint(shows the secularizm of sikh faith You see when you enter The complex stairs are downward which represent the humbleness 2.it has 4 doors pointing every direction means everyone from every race religion cast are welcome. 3 but when you enter In Darbar sahib(middle of pond) has one door which means there is only one way everyone have to go to reach The almigjty. 4.Concept of langar(food) is you have to eat first before meditation of God cause you can't Meditate empty stomach

To cover you hair is not part of the religion but to show respect. The door is not shut on you but to guide next line of eating area. Accepting the bread with both hands to signify deep respect and thanks You can eat the sweet rice pudding with chappati, I do

The foot cleaning is to keep the inside clean and because the feet are supposedly the dirtiest part of the body, which is why your not supposed to touch them in the temple. Kulfi means popsicle. Amritsar mean holy pond, which surrounds the inside of the temple. The temple has 4 outer doors and 1 inner door representing that no matter where you come from and who you are everyone goes the same path to god. Sitting on the floor together to eat represents equality, as it doesn’t matter what you status is, your background or your bank account as long as you are human you will receive food along with others. The food that you had at the start of the video was an aloo parontha/paratha( depends on region) the yogurt dish is meant to be eaten with the parshada ( respectful word for roti which is Punjabi for chapati) and the daal or sabji ( types of curry). What you had later in the langar ( lun-gur) was, I think, moongi masri di daal( the yellow one , two types of lentil), maha di daal( the black one, a type of lentil), kheer ( the sweet one to eat with a spoon, rice pudding). the music is prayers set to traditional music made for praying. The middle of the temple houses the holy book, Guru Granth Sahib(g-run-th saa-hib, the i sound as in the word it) the eleventh guru and first non living guru( spiritual leader). After going in the middle of the temple you go to the bowing area and bow by putting your head and all fours on the ground. After coming out you have parsad( sounds like it’s spelt, also informally called deg d-ay-g) which an offering to eat. People bathe, take home and pray in the water surrounding the inner temple, which is believed to wash sins away. There is a separated area that’s walled off for the women to do the same. Sorry for typing this much, I get passionate talking about my religion
