I think God loves us so much that he constantly speaks to us, even when times are tough

so many praise songs are happy happy. So much of contemporary Christianity is, too. I like this song. Sometimes, you lose the job. Sometimes, Grandma dies. The house burns down, the spouse leaves. Michael addresses something I've agonized for years over-why is God silent sometimes? I'm still not sure, but i know He's still there.

Excellent comment, and I choked up about my late grandma, too. Several troubles in my life that kept me doubting the God I was raised to trust in, until there was nowhere to turn except to Him. I experienced a tremendous weight taken off my back. My hope (confidence) is in Christ.

Well said, brother. We need the real Jesus, who draws the broken heart into authentic love.

"The aching may remain But the breaking does not At the holy lonesome echo Of the silence of God." So true, so very true.

This song is truly ANOINTED! Words to encourage ALL of us who are in the place of WAITING upon the Lord! \o/

It sounds so much like a Michael Card song - powerful melody and lyrics, but Andrew Peterson wrote it. They are both gifted and anointed by God.

It’ll drive a man crazy, it’ll break a man’s faith It’s enough to make him wonder if he’s ever been sane When he’s bleating for comfort from Thy staff and Thy rod And the heaven’s only answer is the silence of God It’ll shake a man’s timbers when he loses his heart When he has to remember what broke him apart This yoke may be easy but this burden is not When the crying fields are frozen by the silencе of God But when you have to listen to thе voices of the mob Who are reeling in the throes of all the happiness they’ve got When they tell you all their troubles have been nailed up to that cross Then what about the times when even followers get lost? ‘Cause we all get lost sometimes There’s a statue of Jesus on a monastery knoll In the hills of Kentucky, all quiet and cold He’s kneeling in the garden, as silent as a stone All His friends are sleeping and He’s weeping all alone And the man of all sorrows, He never forgot What sorrow is carried by the hearts that He bought So when the questions dissolve into the silence of God Advertisement The aching may remain but the breaking does not The aching may remain but the breaking does not At the holy, lonesome echo of the silence of God
