Honestly I kinda prefer the From the Fog stuff. Only reason it's not affecting you as much is The Silence desensitzed you with trashy and constant, loud and in your face jumpscares every couple of minutes. And it just has too many triggers, can't run, sometimes can't walk, can't be inside for more than a minute at best, can't be in water

actually, golden carrots give more saturation than porkchops/steak. in fact, saturation and villagers are a major reason for why golden carrots are better. since the combat update, saturation has been closely ties with how fast you heal. you can even see how fast you regen with saturation at full saturation while appleskin is installed. saturation is also what stops your hunger from depleting quickly. not only that, but you can actually stay on full health longer with golden carrots than porkchops/steak. also, golden carrots are good exponentially. they're shit in the early game due to lack of resources, but great in the mid to late game once you amass a lot of resources. tldr: golden carrots are stackable food that give the most saturation. while expensive in the early game, they can quickly become one of the most cheapest foods you're able to get. more saturation = more healing = full health more often than not PS: this golden carrot vs porkchop/steak debate has been extensively discussed on r/minecraft and any subreddit related to minecraft. you can find more info there.

An argument for quiet sounds over loud: if something is just quiet enough, you'll either ignore it, think you heard it, or know you heard it. You'll end up far more aware of your surroundings that way. Now have the same jumpscare jpg pop up but rather than a loud, hardware damaging boom... have something quiet. A whisper. Some form of sound design that goes right behind your head. Give someone something to pay attention to. I like spooky stuff. What kinda sucks about a lot of horror-type games and mods is that they aim to affect as many people as they can. They want things that are knee-jerk lowest common denominator startling. They'd arguably have more success with something that is more focused. It may lose visceral appeal, surface-level shock value and marketability. But it may gain a lot to really make it stand out from the pack of "pale cousin of Michael Jackson wants to bing your bang". Boatman should remain a pet. He's all smiles, nothing is going to bring him down.
