Love this I need to lean more signing. I can hear but i lost my voice 9 years ago do to cancer. My daughter said i sound like a frog talking now and my wife doesn't understand a word I said anymore I have to type out what i want to say to her all the time and if all of my kids and wife and I lean to sign I would have my voice back in a way. To watch those who sign it beautiful to watch

Signing can help more people than just the deaf. I have had many talks with my husband and family about learning sign. Not until recently did my husband start to learn. Hang in there. Learn it is you need to. I meet often with deaf groups for myself, because I don't hear well. My signing skills are getting better, and I am fortunate to find a group that looks forward to my arrival and participation. My hearing isn't a problem there. I fit in. It is a huge relief and wish my family get togethers would be as nice.

Always wished I'd learn ASL. My now grown children are hearing, but signing with babies was 10 years down the road. Now, at 56, I'm signing to my puppy! Just in time, as my son & fiancé already talk about signing with their babies! Well, this grandmother will be totally on board! Great videos. God bless you all.

That was really great, David. Very moving. For me, the subtle and gradual addition of contrast and color as she closed her eyes and kind of came into her ideal world was a particularly nice touch.

LOVE! Not that this happens to a majority of Deaf, DeafBlind and hard of hearing people in the world, but that you brought it to point so beautifully! I've worked with D/DB/HH people my whole career (and I'm now HH myself), and I can't tell you how many people have shared with me their heartache having experience this very type of situation with their families and friends. If you haven't bothered to learn to sign with your D/DB/HH family member/friend who uses sign language (shame on you!) then at least hire a sign language interpreter for family events and holidays so that your family member isn't left out!!

I am learning ASL now for the last couple years, and I can relate to this movie a LOT! Being Hoh, this happens all the time at any large gathering of family and friends. It's like you are invited to the party, but aren't allowed to participate. It royally sucks, and hope that in the near future my signing skills improve enough, and with a few signing friends, I can catch up to being fully involved in any conversation.

this was my granddaughter and my daughter. I am excited to learn sign. I know it will help her. I know some but I would love to be able to converse with her. I apologize to Meagan and will defenitly try harder. love you, grandma.

I have a friend who is AK native and had never learned sign language, so she and I kinda made up our own sign language and with finger spelling we communicated great, and it was funny when an actual signing person seen us in a coffee shop talking our own private sign language and she thought that was the coolest thing she'd ever seen, she thought we were speaking in another language lol. Ps- Awesone story, thank you.

I'm HOH and mostly lip read. I avoid going out in large groups because I get lost in the conversations. I especially hate it when the restaurant is dark.

I experience this at home when I'm not wearing my Cochlears, and no one can be bothered to include me in conversations. It wears you down. Luckily, it has gotten a lot better now that my husband learns to sign with me. The best thing in this movie is the reveal, which shows how great it could be if people signed as a family.

Hey Mike : I’m hard of hearing, not the same, I know. However, I do miss much of what’s said. I do sign, but no one else in my family does- I can speak and do ok in most social situations. But making myself understood through a mask is so difficult. Trying to understand what others mean is confusing and frustrating. When it’s discovered I don’t hear well, the conversation ends. Yes, it’s as if you’re not there.

Thanks for the captions, although I would have liked more captions than just "dramatic music". Who cares about the music? What are they saying? (My ASL is rusty and not at all good from behind at an angle.)

That was the whole point. The young girl couldn't access their spoken conversation and he was giving us, the audience, a very small taste of it.
