Fun part about the "Punishment by death" is the same was applied to tea, as they had monopolised it too, until someone went in under cover and stole the plants to grow in India, and now we have PG Tips, Tetley and Yorkshire Tea because of that person nicking their plants... :P

Dear Simon, I know that Mega projects doesn't do videos on music. However, there was this one band who's stage system required the use of millions of dollars, hydraulic elevators, miles of electric cables, tons of audio cables, stage risers, lifting derricks, enormous transport vehicles, scaffolding, hundreds of motorized lights, giant inflatable props, mixing boards, scheduling itineraries, a 35ft tall projection screen, ultra high end computers, lawyers, seamless integration, coordination, and competent management of all the above, some bricks; and, (why the heck not?), more than a couple of laser beams thrown in for good measure. That band, (if you haven't yet guessed), was of course PINK FLOYD, and that stage ( 1980's THE WALL TOUR) will be, if you agree to it, your very first Specal Edition of...MEGAPROJECTS! Thanks for all you do Simon. Your videos are excellent!

Who cares about a story that culminates in, say, Los Angeles and San Francisco: where everyone is so stoned all the time driving there is a nightmare of people staring at traffic lights when they turn green, making right turns at the pace of a granny with a walker, and half the population passed out and $hitting themselves on the sidewalks with the wealthier ones in rehab like its a ClubMed timeshare, and a population so pot-stupid that they eagerly vote for politicians who swing open their prisons, take the average person's guns, make the police an impotent on nonexistent force, and cheer! "Justice!" as they themselves are raped and murdered at an astonishing rate? Unless it is entitled: "How Marijuana Brought Down A Civilization and Made Everyone Fuc$ing Stupid"- themed Mega Project.

No harm done. City names are not important because it changed so many times throughout the history. Beijing has changed name 20+ times. It's called Beijing the first time in Ming dynasty 💥
@scheimong
@scheimong 2 жыл бұрын
@@relaxwhc with Shanghai It's not just a case of simple rename. The city as we know it today was literally built entirely within the last 200 years. In fact if we go back more than a millennia, it's widely speculated that the land Shanghai is on was still mostly underwater. It was only due to the sediment deposited by the Yangtze River that this land exists at all. The trade routes going in the direction of Shanghai were probably heading for Suzhou or Nanjing - both cities actually existed back then and are pretty close to modern Shanghai (100km&300km respectively). They also both used to be capitals during various dynasties so there were pretty good reasons to go there as well.
