Thank you for this reading. I have read the books many times, but I never grow weary of Tolkien's legendary world.

Thanks so much for making these. I've been meaning to re-read the Silmarillion, but my job strains my eyes so much that my downtime is usually the only time I can rest them. Now i can enjoy the books without worsening my eyesight. You have an amazing reading voice.

I've read the silmarillion a few times since 2004 and I'm just now realizing an inconsistency. Valinor is supposed to be a place with no fading or death. But miriel feanors mother wasted away and died there. Unlike the kinslaying where Eldar died in valinor of violence.

Excellent point! The distinction is a metaphysical one though; unlike, 'Men,' in Tolkien's world, who die and leave the world and have a fate unbeknownst to either elves or men, because the elves are immortal their bodies are different then Men's to the extent that when their bodies are mortally wounded, their spirit as it were, goes to the Halls of Mandos, whence in time they may return. Glorfindel is example of a named elf from the first age who reappears in Fellowship of the Ring. Unlike Peter Jackson's Fellowship where Arwen finds Aragorn and Frodo and the others on their flight from Weathertop, it was actually Glorfindel. So even if the word 'die' or 'kill' is used in regards to elves, they do not die the way men do, being truly gone forever. Feanor was an unusual case because the spirits/life energy of (I believe) three went into him alone, and essentially drained the life energy from Miriel, but she didn't fade or die, her spirit went to Mandos. Definitely an unusual case. Thank you so much for the comment, great food for thought!
