It's the opposite. Half the team was split off to work on Sonic Wildfire, which was rebranded to Secret Rings. Sonic team, while already understaffed had an extraordinarily small amount of time to work on what would be the biggest Sonic game to ever exist. I hate this narrative that when a game is bad, it's the fault of the people who crunched for over a year and did countless hours of unpaid overtime to complete it. Somehow, the rich company who sets the release date is somehow never at fault for depriving the studio of the nessesary time and resources while simultaneously being paid more despite not actually making the game.
