While waiting for your recommendation on my question below, here is another question about black’s plan of the game after 8. f4. Thank you.

I cover all possible lines including f4 in the 10-day Opening Mastery: www.journeytograndmaster.com/ we create some counterplay, either with Bb4 and/or Nbd7/Nc6

Great video. Very clear and instructive. I got interested in this line trying to learn the black lion but there most courses play Nbd7 and i didnt like the complications after f4. This ending offer good chances, especially to positional players.

Toward the end of the video you say something like "you must absolutely know how to react if White does not take the Pawn on e5". Then you point to a video to watch. But the video you point to is of your game with Fabiano. BTW i not infrequently play this defence with good results. But when going into a line where White does not take, I more frequently than not get into difficulties. Thx for the video.

I would like to ask you a question: what is the right way to defend pawn on e5 after 6.Bg5, 7. 0-0-0+, 8. Nf3, 9.Bc4, 10.Bh4, 11.Bg3. Is the following plan h6 -> Nh7 => f6 good? Is it good to play g5 in this way? Thank you.
@journeytograndmaster

I have never such a plan. The plan I cover in the 10-day Opening Mastery starts with Bc5-b6-c7 against this

@cz19856 12 күн бұрын
1.e5 d6 2.d4 Nf6 are both the philidor and the pirc, depending on the third move, e5 or g6. You can reach the philidor via e4 e5 Nf3 d6 as well

You are wrong. The philidor and pirc describe opening setups, not first moves.

Thank you so much! It's definitely possible. However, I prefer something more active as white to attack and put pressure on the opponent. Whereas with black Philidor allows to be solid and flexible

Hi. If you have some time, can you please explain why after ...Nbd7 you aren't afraid of Bxf6, damaging your pawn structure? Is it because you would have the bishop pair? Thanks.

Yes, it's never dangerous. You have 2 bishop and solid pawn structure in the center, all good :)

What if while you take a move to develop the king side knight he pushes the pawn to e5. For this reason isn’t it better to push e7 to e5 to prevent this from happening before developing the knight?
@journeytograndmaster
@journeytograndmaster 12 күн бұрын
@dariopece3466 it's almost losing for white to play e5, it's like an accidental trap there :) you take the pawn, the queen, then play Ng4 and even at least a pawn
