Now that was labor of love! I recently played an original Konami Simpons arcade cabinet from 1991 that has been upgraded to accept "game card points" rather than take coins. I found it up & running at a small arcade at my local boardwalk. It was definitely a blast from the past! I used to play that game along with a TMNT arcade game at various arcades as a kiddo. Great job on your restoration.

Hey there. I have a Simpsons machine and recently turned it on and it is not working. I've been posting on some arcade forums looking for help and people have made suggestions that haven't done the trick yet. Do you think there would be any way you could give me tips or guidance? I know nothing about these machines and have only just begun to scratch the surface. Thank you for your time
@GameDadShow3 жыл бұрын
The first thing I would look at is the power supply and making sure your getting proper 5V power to the board. Also check all plugged connections and maybe even clean the contacts a bit to ensure a solid connection.
@juicybear19863 жыл бұрын
@@GameDadShow hi there. I have more info on the specifics. When I fire up the machine it does a ram rom check and when it gets to the 16c and 17c, it says "BAD" followed by a 4 digit sequence of numbers/letters that seem to change but usually has the same sequence of numbers. I was told on an arcade forum to reseat the chips. So I did that by carefully prying on the specific chips on the board and carefully replacing them. Didnt fix the problem sadly. So that is where I am currently and do not know where to go from here. Thank you for responding
@GameDadShow3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like either the rom chips are bad, the contacts are dirty, or the contacts in their seats are dirty. Try some contact cleaner, but make sure it’s safe for plastics so it doesn’t damage the board. And of course. Let me know how it goes!

Literally just bought one, and started poking around. Followed where different wires went to see what they did. Process of elimination to see where disconnected things went. Really just trial and error. Then eventually you start to recognize issue and can diagnose from there. The final product looks pretty decent, and shows you put a lot of well-worth effort into this project. Though, the looping rock guitar track in the back was rather distracting and quite annoying, especially when sound was the focus (such as with the initial and final sound checks). I think it's okay to have no sound, or a couple of light drum/bass backing tracks instead of looping the same piece for nearly 20 minutes. I watched for maybe 3 minutes before I just had to mute the video and skip around to what seemed interesting. Audio is really important in long-duration KZbin videos.
