The whole sound design is half-assed. The level 2 boss, for example, is dropping these big cases on you but theres no sound effect for the impact, the attack or Marge. It lacks the corny, but (by NES standards) technically advanced voice samples of the 8-bit version.

I can beat the NES version quite easily. In the Genesis version I can't get past level 2. The jumping controls are awful. The Master System version controls well though.

It is incredible how the first level is so damned hard, and the last one is a freaking maze! It looks like the only two levels "fully" designed (albeit hard as hell) are the first and the last, and the other ones are somehow a letdown. Why do you collect coins at all, if the only place to spend them is the first level and optionally on the third??

I didnt know there was a Sega Genesis version of this game. That being said, Ive often argued that music and sound effects are half of the game itself. Without hearing the Simpsons theme song in this game, it just doesnt have the same feel just by watching this. Ill take the poorly controlled Bart Simpson in the NES version over this version, thank you.

I grew up playing this game for Nes. It was very challenging but me and my silblings all working together sharing the little tips and secrets we discovered we eventually managed to beat it. I did not know this game was made for genesis aswell. Modding my genesis mini I added this and and the game gear version. While it is great to play again with these new graphics I have to say the nes version is waaaay better for music and sound effects. This doesnt even have the dynamic boss music the nes version had :(

Objectively speaking, this Genesis version has much better graphics, but they don't have the charm of the low-fi NES ones. This game came out during the Season Two of the TV show. The animation during the first few seasons was much lower quality, and much weirder looking, than the seasons that came after, and the Nintendo version is very reminiscent of those early years. The lack of the Simpsons theme in the Genesis version is completely inexplicable. What were they thinking?!

This is recorded from an emulator, not a real Genesis. A real Genesis is hard to record from because of its slighty out of typical spec video output. I once had an ATI TV Wonder that handled it fine. The only way I know of know is a Japanese XCapture-1, I just got it last week and it handles the Genesis just fine :)

@@dmace81 They are. I have beaten the NES version multiple times and stage 2 never gave me any trouble. I can't beat stage 2 on Genesis (unless I use a trick to avoid the platforming segment, even the guy in this video uses that trick at 07:30) because of the poor controls.

You know, I give the Sega Genesis a lot of shit, its inferior to the SNES in a ton of ways, and while there are a few good games, like Fatal Labyrinth, the SNES has a lot more better games, Sonics 1 to 3 all suck. this game right here proves that Sega didn't care. it could have been vastly better than the NES counterpart, but instead its a lazy game, just like me, a lazy piece of human trash.
