Actually, this came out about a year after the Canadian CGI series ReBoot did. And the CGI in that was probably just as sophisticated, if not more so, than what we saw here. It's just a shame that the revival series from 2018 didn't build upon the original using improved CGI, instead doing it's own thing (being primarily live-action with some CGI scenes, but also borrowing a lot of elements from Code Lyoko, namely people in the real world traveling to a virtual world to combat threats).

The CG world didn't really impress me neither. I was more spooked by it, and it looked like it would be the future of animation. Beast Wars and Reboot didn't help neither
