I watched a youtube video about Hades, breaking down his character in every interpretation including the Disney's Hercules. The uploader revealed that Hades was written to be a completely different character, classically evil instead of humorous. But then James Wood's did his audition, and they loved it and rewrote his character. So Hades IS James Woods, that's why you feel like that.

When James Woods is on the phone with his agent, this is an instance of a little-known (and seldom-used) running gag in The Simpsons: A character asks for an explanation over the phone, the viewer cannot hear the explanation provided by the person on the other end of the line, and the character who hears the explanation accepts the explanation readily, whether a sound explanation is possible in the situation or not. First use of this gag: When Marge suspects that Lisa has the mumps, she calls Doctor Hibbert at his home. (from "Bart's Dog Gets an 'F'," Season 2, Episode 16) Marge: Hello, Dr. Hibbert? This is Marge Simpson. Dr. Hibbert: Uh, not that I'm angry, but how did you get my home number? [Marge's response inaudible to viewer] Dr. Hibbert: [chuckles] I see. Quite ingenious. Second use of this gag: The James Woods bit in the video above. (from "Homer and Apu," Season 5, Episode 13) Third (and to my knowledge, final, to date) use of this gag: When Ned opens the "Praiseland" amusement park that his late wife, Maude, designed. (from "I'm Goin' to Praiseland," Season 12, Episode 19) Ned Flanders: Hello, gas company? How poisonous is your gas? [response inaudible to viewer] Ned Flanders: Wow. Bu-, eh, But I'm talking about, you know, outdoors with plenty of ventilation. [response inaudible to viewer] Ned Flanders: That- How could that be worse? [response inaudible to viewer] Ned Flanders: Okay, permanent brain damage or just temporary? [response inaudible to viewer] Ned Flanders: I see.

So when Woods found out his agent turned down Reservoir Dogs for him without even letting him know about the movie, he fired his agent. However, Tarantino never told Woods the part he wanted him for in Reservoir Dogs when Woods asked because the actor who got the part was so great , he couldn't see Woods in the part anymore.
