There are so many minor details I like about this clip, Maggie spelling "EMCSQU" with her blocks (as in E=MC²) Homer oblivious to having the letters to spell "oxidize" on him (though where he'd put it on the board, I don't know), Lisa flipping through the dictionary as if trying to look up "kwyjibo", that image of Homer holding the banana, Marge joining in Bart's description of a so-called "kwyjibo" clearly recognizing who he's referring to... Man, season 1 doesn't get enough credit in terms of funny moments.

If this episode didn't turn out the way it did America's most powerful animated series would not be on the air now - but what do you mean this you may ask? Well --- here's what happened --- Matt G. n' James L. wrote 13 episodes n' sent them to be animated --- this is not only the 2nd episode aired but this is also the 2nd episode produced... With this the 2nd produced that means that there was another 1 before it --- no. It's not Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire that's the 8th produced (that's 7G08)... In fact... If you look at the production code of Some Enchanted Evening the Season 1 finale you will see that the production is: 7G01... That means that episode is the episode produced directly before this episode and is the very 1st episode produced of the whole show But how did the series almost goet cancelled? Well Some Enchanted Evening's animation came back of fairly poor quality & was far below the expectations of what the producers wanted (problems included: Inferior 2nd rate character designs, Sloppy backgrounds & an animation style that was the opposite of the realistic & stiff style that Matt Groening wanted - rubbery, cartoony and fluid animation)... You can't imagine how bad and troubled the episode's production was... Along with the painful animation there was heated fights between Klasky Csupo & James L Brooks about it there was profanity used... But here is the part that is the most frightening of all if this... The animation was so bad that... James & Matt... Threatened to cancel the whole entire show as a whole if this episode didn't have any better animation Yup that's right! The existence of The Simpsons franchise actually really depended on how the animation turned out on this episode... If it was better then there would be more episodes... If not the series would be cancelled... The Simpsons start was just *that bad* Luckily though the episode came out more to their liking! Season 1 of the Simpsons is different in many ways from what it would become just a couple seasons later. Homer's not a complete moron. His voice is different. The episodes focus on family. The plots are more realistic. It's a very charming show, and shows the writers' talent. They could craft funny jokes with a relatively normal family (normal comparison to what the Simpson's would become).
