Penn and Teller use the 3 of clubs as the card they force onto the random audience member, so it is the card used in maybe 90 percent of the acts. If you have seen enough of their shows, you realize that the 3 of clubs indicates they knew what the card was going to be before the start. It shows the magic was in getting the guy to select the specific card, not in reacting to whatever card you picked.

This one clip got my kids to ask who they were. And I told them and they KZbin there videos. That night they ended up watching the show Penn and Teller fool us. And they became infatuated with magic. Just incredible that a minute clip in a show can encourage people to learn new skills. So I wish I could thank them in person as I always loved them anyway. But it's nice to see my kids try stuff that is not console or phone related.

So he could conceivably be recognized. Teller has stated that he only speaks when he is not playing his stage character, which in this case qualified because he was not really playing himself, but a cartoon parody of himself...and is also why he said he was "not the first Teller."
