This is EXACTLY how I organized my first sims 2 family. I had my own neighborhood. It started with one sim who slept around, had 3 kids, those kids had 3 kids each, and then those kids had like 6 or 7 kids each. I got to generation 6 before my laptop crashed. I was C R U S H E D. Do you play any EA families? I have a binder for all of the EA families. Each game has their own binder and each neighborhood has their own section. My fiancé thinks I’m crazy 😂

I'm German and I apologize for my grammar if it is wrong but you've really inspired me and at this moment I have almost thirty sims, even alien twins. I am beyond impressed by the amount of effort you put into keeping track of all your Sims. Two weeks ago I started a huge family that grew from 2 sims to more than 13(+2 since one of my male sims is pregnant with twins). Two of which are already moved out and in college. I hope to see them get as big as yours one day though. I made sure to give them all the skills they need to so all they really have to focus on is going to work, making more kids, and surviving then repeating the process until I say enough. I used townies too and sometimes I would "cheat" and make sims via create-a-sim. I like the naming theme though that you used. I never really thought about doing it like that because I sort of named all of my sims using names from the huggies website. XD I'd love to actually see more of your sims. Ts2 is my favorite game in the series and I like the other ones but ts2 did it properly and it's one of the easiest to start a big family tree like yours and like you TS2 is the same game that I'm doing it on. Unlike you, though, I haven't played TS2 very long. I've played Sims 1 on my computer and ps2. Ts3 on my ps3, wii, and pc and a bit of sims 4 on my computer but I've really only been playing ts2: UC for like 4-5 months. Moreso because my family was too broke to buy ts2 and I was also just 4 years old when it came out and back then I wasn't very good at the game. 😅 Sorry for the long essay about my sims experiences but I really enjoyed the video. 😅

I have competing Royal dynasties and a noble class that I play on rotation in The Sims 4. I made a private family tree on ancestry.com. It is SUPER helpful for me to have. I am currently at around 50 sims. With marriage being restricted to royal and noble blood it is super important for me to be able to plot out marriages in a way that makes sure that my sims are overly inbred. LOL. I stress the importance of making the family tree private and naming it "fictional tree". Otherwise it could cause false records if some person out there thinks your random sim was there great great aunt or something haha. But really though... It is a great tool to use. Also... Player to player... I admire your dedication to your sim family. I know how much time and energy we put into taking care of our little sims. Lol.

You should use the plum tree app and it might take a little time but it would be worth it. It allows you to make a big family tree and you can add the life goal and the traits they have. You can also add other details that you want, which in your case could be the naming theme. It's a really good site to use I think.

This is the same level of intensity and love I have for my sims game as well (except I played the sims 3)- I’ve also been playing my family for around 10 years. I’ve kept up a family tree, and I have a ton of photos of the family uploaded to my google drive. I keep track of some of their stats too, but I only keep track of the main family i play, because the dozens of other sims seem impossible to keep up with. Have you been able to keep up with the same save file? I have lost my game twice, but luckily had my latest iterations of the family uploaded on the gallery. It sucks to lose the town progression though! Anyway, this video made me smile, thanks for sharing. 😊

Now I seriously wanna play The Sims 2 again just to do this lol. The only thing is it might get to be a bit much to constantly be rotating through the families, that's kinda why I'm a bit fond of the story progression feature in TS3 and TS4, that way I could just play one family and focus on them if I wanted to without having to deal with all the other households not progressing. Even so though TS2 will always have a place in my heart :)

I'm a lot more build-focused and have tons of notebooks and pdf files with info on my nhood, but on the flipside, I I've never played a family legacy that I can remember. Ahhh, that chart makes me so happy :) Although I would 100% want to color-code it cause I can see that you know it like the back of ypur hand, but damn :D

I totally understand sticking to one sims family! Sadly I don't have any of my original sims 2 saves, but I still hoard my favorite families from Sims 3 and in Sims 4 I'm on generation 3 of my fave family line to far, there are maybeeee 20-30 in the family so far, nowhere near 350! I do want to build them up like I did my sims 3 family and beyond that, the only reason I stopped playing my sims 3 family was due to the save file cap dictating that if the file size was larger than 4gb it wouldn't save :( I would love to see more vids like this tbh!

My custom neighborhood, which I started in March, is at generation 5. I started with six couples and they each had an average of two kids. In the second generation, I added four more couples as well. The neighborhood currently has ~25 households. I keep the number small thanks to my gamerule that sims can only have a maximum of three pregnancies if they have the family aspiration and two pregnancies if they don’t.

If I remember correctly there is no story progression in The Sims 2, so does that mean you played, married, reproduced each and every Sim yourself? :D very impressive!

If you mean whether the Sims age themselves while you play on another lot then no... if you want sims to age up you have to play them individually as only the sims in that household age. Makes this all the more impressive :)

I watch a decent amount of LP's on KZbin and this video kept getting suggested to me because of the type of video must have matched and I found it so helpful. I've always tried the legacy challenge and never got past gen 2 cause they just have babies and I lose track of them and also can't remember the order I originally played them in so grandchildren end up with children before their grandparents die. Will erase my saved files and start from scratch again. Do you use a premade town eg belladonna cove strange town etc or do you create a new town? :) this was interesting to watch. Thank you x

Shelley Graham thanks so much, Shelley! Yup it definitely helps to write everything down, and in the beginning I had the houses in a big line so I knew what order to play them (now there’s too many so I usually just play them in birth order). I use Pleasantview but over the generations I’ve moved all the families from other towns to be there too.
