I wish there was a mod to choose a second parent for an adopted sim so unmarried sims could adopt a child together. At this point, I have to fix the relationship in SimBlender or else the baby will recognize the other parent as unrelated before marriage and as a step-parent after marriage.

There is something similar for just being born babies, Choose Father Mod (Or Parent, I'm not sure). Where child recognizes their supposed to be father when mother cheated, but the child doesn't lose all ties to the biological parent. For adoptive parents I also use Sim Manipulator. It's so fast to click and choose so it doesn't bother me that much.

Personally I love the single plate leftovers. My kids can get a leftover out of the fridge without possibly leaving a whole platter of food to go to waste. One mod that I can't imagine being without now is a mod that stops sims from calling your sim just to say, hey why don't you call once in awhile or something like that, then when you try to return their call you get their answering machine. I forgot the name of it but it makes the caller stay on the line and have an actual conversation to get those relationship points back up.

I'm also in the "never getting default replacements" camp. The Sims' vanilla look is too iconic and nostalgic for me to mess with like that. I also find some of the more "hyperrealistic" default replacements, especially the skin tone ones, are kind of edging into the Uncanny Valley. My biggest "ubiquitous mod I don't use" is probably ACR.

This alone is the reason i d choose sims 3 or even 4 over the sims 2. And the mod is nice but it conflicts with so many other amazing mods i need and it as also messing stuff up as u mentioned. and while i d prefer the traits, in the sims 2 those do not make any sense to me since they would function as tokens since they are in the inventory but honestly i don t wanna mess with those.

Personally I like AllenABQ's face defaults and use them, I do use traits, and I do use the firstborn syndrome fix with RPC. As for the other mods, I could do without them, even if story progression sounds neat, I might try that for a different neighborhood one day, but since I have a Maxis uberhood setup and do college, I fear it'd break things.
@lyandraangel7 күн бұрын
I've been using some of these since I discovered them: face templates for over a decade; the bottle DR, RPC, put away as single plates and inventory inheritance for at least several years. I recently found out about the height mod (and I'm disappointed to hear it doesn't carry between sessions, since it seemed that it's supposed to), and was going to try it out - easy for me since I already have RPC set up. I was also planning to try out the 3t2 trait system, but it is just sooooooo many mods. Depending on how I like it I might cut it down to just new supernaturals, hopeless romantics and aromantics, and anything else that has a lot of support already built that I enjoy. A quartish of the traits still don't have any mod support outside some trait-enabled/focused turn-on replacers. I have stumbled across the bending traits (ala AtLA) that could be fun in the right circumstances (and I'm considering adding to my new fairies or genies later depending on how their magic systems are working out), and the caste system for medieval neighborhoods, which would be very useful if I were playing a historical neighborhood.

As a replacement for Edukashun iz Gud, I personally use 'Doctors Need Degrees' by KittyCarey on MTS, which has a more lenient system in my opinion. Yeah, as for the Trait System I agree. I used them once in one of my playthroughs but I personally found them rather shallow as there still aren't that many mods that enable them to do something game-changing. I also prefer The Sims 2's Personality Traits anyway, and their simplicity. However, I do use the Hopeless Romantic Trait as a standalone sometimes in tandem with BellaDovah's No Multiple Loves/Woohoos/Makeout wants for Romance Sims so I can have more variety in my Romance Sims, where they don't always have to cheat to be fulfilled, but instead makes them focus on one partner and their happiness in that relationship.

The only ones I use consistently for story telling is choose a last name and the bequeathing inventory one. The last name one comes in handy for situations like Don Lothario having several children with different mothers. The other one I use because sometimes I’ll place expensive objects or mementos like flowers or letters in there and forget about them 😅
@TheMya19885 ай бұрын
I also used to allow for teen pregnancies, but when it got out of hand (especially when I used ACR), I was pulling out hairs trying to juggle all the new families in my rotation. Speaking of ACR, I no longer use that mod either, mainly due to the hard-coding for Romance Sims (especially with Secondary aspirations). If ACR worked in tandem with the actual wants system, and could distinguish between those I consider "serial romancers" (i.e. Don Lothario, Daniel Pleasant, etc.) and "hopeless romantics" (i.e. Bella Goth, Nina Caliente, etc.), as well as disallowed unrealistic intimate pairings (to me, those are borderline SA, which is triggering for me), then I might consider putting back in ACR, or a mod that can be tuned better for all my preferences. I also used to use default replacements, but lost them all, along with my save files, when my desktop crashed (years ago). I do want to eventually add them back in, but like you, I have grown accustomed to all the templates, making it fun to create my own unique Sims. I do not use any time sync mods or story progression, because I do often use community lots to help boost moods for jobs and better school performance (as well as vacations). I also have created save files for every town: Good Witch/Warlock vs. Evil Witch/Warlock (with a few Neutral sprinkled in), and take Sims in groups (multiple days), skilling them up at the Castles, ergo time syncing is not feasible. I do add mods to rid the Green and aura glows of the witches/warlocks, as well as allow regular clothing and hairstyles (because with entire hoods all in witch garb, it gets confusing who is who, outside of their alignment). I also have a mod that allows witches/warlocks to retain all spells they have learned (enabling a select few to be able to perform every spell, regardless of alignment), along with a mod that does not affect alignment shifts when using any neutral spells (got sick of alignment shifting when teleporting and summoning their familiars). I actually also like the green bottles (which especially, should have been carried over to Sims 3), because those bottles were common when bottles shifted from glass to plastic irl. Like you, I do not allow Sims to enter careers that would realistically need a college degree (i.e. Medical, Science, etc.), and there are more that degrees are unnecessary (i.e. Law Enforcement, Dancer, Athlete, Education, etc.). Even Politics (in the US), does not even require one to have a H.S. diploma. I do give premade degrees according to their careers and/or wealth class. I also send them to college based on their wants/fears (unless a certain storyline peeks my interest), as well as their wealth status (even if I know they will likely fail). I never liked the single plate mod, because of all the awful things in my upbringing, I actually loved being able to share meals as a family, as well as preparing group meals in advance (ya never know how much those preprepared meals might come in handy: parties, headmaster, a business, etc.). I also am part of a minority that loves getting the full uni experience, so I use mods to extend it further than the 72 hour clock per semester, and this does not change my pass/fail rate ratio (especially due to wants/fears), anyway. All, in all, the mods that I no longer use, are far greater than those I do use (with the exception of mods that fix bugs and glitches). 🤷♀️

I've already known about most of those mods and either have been using them, or don't want them as well, it't the first time I hear about that varied baby personality one, tho, and that's going into my downloads now. So, thank you! With face templates, there are some of the default ones that I very much don't like and have been considering replacing them many times, but always end up not doing it. I guess I'm too nostalgic for all of them in the end xD Plus, I feel like most of the face templates replacements I've seen were all way too conventionally pretty, and currently I prefer my sims to look unique, even if somewhat ugly/cartoonish, that similarly pretty. Tho a few times I downloaded some face template replacements, went to bodyshop, saved a sim with each of those replacement faces, then took the replacements out. It's not a perfect solution, since then there's no option to do that cool right click thing, but if I like a replacement template that's always some way to have it in my game.

I really like the idea of sims 3 traits in the sims 2, but the same as you, too many files
@LCTmusic68321 күн бұрын
Its kinda not too many files for 3t2 when I see players with thousands of CC and furniture. Get a good PC with space and your game will literally be fine. You also should pick and choose depending on what effects you want. I really recommend 3t2 traits because: 1) 10000 times more depth to storylines/character choices and development/chance cards (like being able to ponder “what would your Sim with their set of traits choose on a chance card?) 2. Gives the Sims 2 Sims , who are already iconic, even more personality quirks that add to the realism. I dont prefer Sims’ personalities being restricted to just those five sliders 3) With all the above said, its also possibly infinitely better than that because there are obviously no trait limits like 3 and 4, because you can just stick traits in sims inventories. So Sims with like 20 traits-talk about developed personalities. All that is so worth the proposed file bloat. And hey, you can even make your own trait rules and not even use mods if you use cheats right.
@Marticore21 күн бұрын
It's not about performance, it's about being overwhelmed by the number of options, I like to keep my game as minimalistic as I can. Plus, I would forget I even have the files. I only downloaded the Hopeless Romantic trait by someone's recommendation because it can be useful for some Romance Sims.
@LCTmusic68321 күн бұрын
@ @ Number of options in gameplay, you mean? I don’t understand well, I apologize. I mean once you download your selection of traits and their accompanying mods, you don’t really have to manage them in-game or choose anything in game. I think there’s even a mod that gives all Sims a random selection of traits based on settings that you choose. I mean, if you kinda think about it, its a lot more work setting up the mod and downloading and making sure they don’t conflict. Gameplay with traits is easy
@Marticore21 күн бұрын
I know a lot of people play with 3t2 traits and love them, but I'm satisfied with the game's personality system and don't feel the need to tweak it. Randomizing additional traits for Sims sounds like a nightmare to me, honestly. In rotational gameplay, I barely remember my Sims' jobs and aspirations, let alone a bunch of Sims 3 traits 😂 Redundant
@LCTmusic68321 күн бұрын
@@Marticore I don’t use the randomizer at all, bc I dont like it either, I just choose my traits and plop them in the Sim’s inventory. I also keep documentation of their traits to pull up for quick reference for gameplay. Different playstyles sure are interesting. I personally can’t stand the lack of realism/depth in Sims being restricted to five sliders in terms of who they are. Traits do a lot in that regard for giving them that extra “ummph” for me. But who knows, if you tried to play my way, you might lose your mind. But I thrive on detail oriented type approaches.

Like: -I don’t need a milk bottle recolour -I like the sims face templates and having “strange” looking sims it adds interesting sims so not everyone looks like a model -First born syndrome I don’t mind too much since I only have like 2 kids max per family (and I also save before birth if I need to get a certain gender) -I don’t care too much about personality in all honesty it doesn’t effect how I choose to live that sims life -I don’t have the last name at labor chooser but maybe it would be good for me but I just use the picture to change the surname most of the time anyway -never used inteenimater (even though I’ve been hearing about that mod for YEARS) I just don’t care for my teens to be preggers -I highly recommend ACR for the drama (but I’m also someone who hates when one of my sims goes off and smooches a random townie but I try and work it in to whatever storyline I have in my head 😂) -I don’t care for a height mod since if I wanted to mess with heights I’d use stretchskeleton which I use to use a lot when I was a teen. - I’d love to play story progression but I’m so controlling of my sims 😂 (I also play rotationally) maybe I’ll try it in a different save away from my main game in the future. - I think I’d like a season change mod to align some of my sims since some are out of sync in my rotation (aka moving in when the rotation is in winter and they move into a new lot it’s summer I think) but it’s not the end of the world if I never get it. - I send everyone to college lol (I think, because I’m going onto strangetown in my game I’ll try and limit the amount of college attendees and see how it fairs out. - yeah I don’t have restrictions for what level someone can be in a career either. - again single plate leftovers is my beloved. - inherit inventory seems interesting, I just go through when they are close to dying as an elder (because I’m so invested in my sims I rarely have a death before the elder life stage) and empty their stuff out then manually but that could be helpful - I’ve seen a lot of people playing with the traits system recently and I’m interested but I don’t see how much effect it has on a game, maybe I have to do some more research. -I have higher bills mod at the highest it can be cause my sims never seem to struggle cause they always seem to do well in their careers (except for John burb he just kept getting fired 😂 I eventually had to give him a hobby to make money with) It really is so interesting how people view different mods!

I don't really want to use lazyduchess RPC launcher it kind of messed up the game layout making it very different than what I'm used to
@Lakaka995 ай бұрын
uhhh but the rpc launcher doesn't change the layout of the game. like, at all. haven't you downloaded clean ui or something similar by mistake?
@Lemony1235 ай бұрын
@@Lakaka99 I really dont know why, I kind of forgot but the UI is just a lot smaller.
@Lakaka995 ай бұрын
@@Lemony123 it's probably your resolution. what might have happened is that your screen resolution is bigger than the game resolution. when you use rpc launcher, it uses your screen resolution for the game in borderless fullscreen, so if they are different the ui gets smaller. it's not exactly a rpc problem, but a game problem. it's not made for bigger screens, so the ui doesn't have good scaling. you can "fix" it by using a smaller resolution and using magpie to upscale it to fit your screen, if you really want to

A subscriber of mine recommended me TS3 traits for TS2. There's so much effort put into this mod, but... Why not simply control your sims behaviours with your own hands?! Same for mods that make small actions automatic. I feel like TS2 players don't even want to PLAY the game these days anymore. When your sims do the dishes automatically (regardless of their personality, btw) and the ACR creates half of the importants events in your sims life, what are you even sitting in front of your computer for?

I use the traits to guide stories. It can be hard to differentiate the massive families n hoods I make, so traits gives me a bit of a starting point for how I want my sim to be. I usually randomize most aspects of base game personality and their Aspiration as well. Think of it as "prompts" for sims I otherwise wouldn't care about.

I don't know about others, but I LOVE when Sims do things automatically, because it's like watching real little people and it becomes hilarious to go through their lives watching them make modded personalised choices without me having to prompt them. If I have to make them do something, it's all just me, but adding to their AIs with mods and having them do funny/wild things without me expecting it is entertaining

I do like playing the game, there's just sometimes when I wanna sit back and watch. Not only that, I'm usually more into the autonom fixing mods, such as them always going to the bathroom sink to wash dishes... ew, disgusting and takes them way too long when they can just use the sink in the kitchen.

Anything that changes the feel of the game is not welcome in my books. I want my SIms 2 today to be the same game that blew my mind coming from SIms 1 20 years ago. I'm sick of these mods that try to make Sims 2 look like Sims 3 or * shivers * Sims 4.
