I think they made it that way cause spin off games are less profitable in the long run. If a SW fan wants to get this they would have to buy the Base Game and with that they may get other packs in the future. Besides that I think a pack takes less time and buget to make than a whole spin off game that justifies paying the full price.

Yes... i think in ts4 sims are too much interested in bars xD in my gameplay my sims always go to bar and prepare too many drinks and they dont drink them all. And it is irritating because I have to clean house often. But when I deleted the bar they instead go to drink water from sinks... xD And they still abandon many glasses everyehere in the house. And it even more annoying because if they drinks from the bar they at least leave glasses near the bar 😂😂😂

I was actually going to buy this pack prior to Jame's playthrough. while i share the frustrations of everyone who is justifiably upset about the pack (scream it from the rooftops: we don't even have a decent base game and star wars was last on the community voted survey), I love star wars. i was actually really excited to build in batuu and raise a family of jedi, i thought that would be the entire appeal of a sims/star wars pack. but nope. it doesn't even feel like a star wars rpg, it just feels like my sims are visiting the star wars part of disney world. not only is the concept not what the community wanted, but the execution is terrible even for star wars fans.

I have to agree. When I first saw the trailer I was very excited because I love the sims and Star Wars so much, but we kinda have to accept that the gameplay is not really good. It does feel like they are just going for a visit and that’s it.

Unfortunately when they use a franchise like Star Wars a lot of resources are going towards that area of the game (cosmetics/characters/spaceships/aesthetics etc) and it results in the gameplay and details having corners cut to save money/time. They’ll have put a ton of effort into making the world and characters feel like Star Wars that the gameplay itself is lacking

I went into this pack open minded, I had previously decided not to hate it before I had seen it. Now that I have, I just don’t see the point to a sims game that doesn’t allow you to build in world, but gives you build mode items that would only look kind of okay in Strangerville and at an super huge Star Wars fan house in the Sims. So if you want to create a character whose sole character is Star Wars, this pack is for you.

i do agree, it's weird to have the world be so separated from the rest of the sims. At that point, just make a different game? like i get the draw, have your literal self insert sims play alongside these characters in this setting. but at that point you could also just,,, play a different game... and probably get more out of it lol

Everyone whines like children when they integrate wacky stuff into the actual game so they decide to separate it now everyone complains that it's so separated that it should be its own spin-off game. Look it's in a completely different world because people made it very clear they didn't want to see star wars aliens and lightsaber duels appearing in the regular game. It's too small to be a standalone spin-off game and at least this way people get some extra build/buy mode stuff to play with and some nerdy cosplay clothes. The way this was made makes the star wars content completely optional. When it's not optional it's complained about. Now i can enjoy it if i want to enjoy it and the Eco Life Gen Z babies don't need to cry incessantly that some sim used force powers on them or saber dueled next to them while they tried to do their laundry.

Exactly. I buy packs but don't use the main theme, JUST for the build/buy/CAS stuff in them. Like Parenthood. I don't play families. But I LOVE all the stuff. I will never play the Strangerville mystery again, but I LOVE all the stuff. Plus bonus pretty southwestern town. I have exactly ONE pet in my entire HEAP of saves, but I LOVE Brindleton Bay and all the stuff. I never use clubs, but I LOVE Windenburg, etc, etc. With this? I WILL NEVER USE ANY OF THIS STUFF ANYWHERE ELSE. Ever. Well maybe the rock floor. Not enough to convince me to buy it.

Wading through all these comments like"oh at least they did such a good job on it" when the entire first area is rabbit hole builds you can't edit or physically use. I was really hoping they'd make up for missing the mark with the theme by at least really stepping it up with gameplay, but as soon as James said you get there by taking a vacation on your phone I knew I should be worried. But, yikes, an entire neighborhood and it only has one room? That's just..

A lot of people share that opinion, and even though I can see the reasoning for that, I'm kinda happy it's not a spin off game, I like Sims medieval, but every time I'm playing it I'm wishing I could also do more normal sims gameplay with my characters, like the kids being able to grow up. Or use some of the items in other builds. Overall, I think I will like having it in the main game, but separate enough from the other worlds, better. but that's just my opinion of course.

I'm replaying Sims Medieval at the moment and it's amazing how much is in the game, or rather feels like there is because a lot of the missions use the same interactions etc. There's still a ton of writing in there, though, with all the quest stories and so on. I don't know if present-day Sims could even approach the level of creativity in Sims Medieval, when this just looks like three quests and then you're done.

it's kinda too star wars-y to be part of the sims, but too sims-like to be a sole star wars game. (long comment ahead, btw) I kinda wish they had doubled down on one of those aspects. Like, fully make force users a new occult, have alien's from the normal sims game in batuu, maybe have an option in the settings for whether batuu is completely separate from the rest of the sims' worlds (we want eliza pancakes in batuu, why? dunno, but we want her there). Give me the ability to make my own star wars looking places! This (at least for now, as far as i can see) looks like the worst of both worlds instead of the best. Like, the things that make the sims the sims are creating your own story, populating it with your character, your builds, your style. Star wars' appeal is the space western, fantasy knights, good vs evil, very specific looking places world. A meeting of the two should be allowing the player to create their own space fantasy western looking places, it's a no brainer. Like, want a run-down cantina? You can make it! Fancy, chrome and slick core world more your style? Go for it! But the world is already there so it's your sim visits star wars. So you can't customize the locations, what about the looks? I personally would love to make myself look like darth maul, but you can't, your sims are simple humans, you can give them star wars style clothes, and they can't wear non star wars clothes. Not even the costume cosplay ones from before. Ok, gotcha. What about our careers? There's overlap, shouldn't a space smuggler have a good reputation with the scoundrel's already? What about a criminal or a secret spy? Those seem like they'd have an impact. The batuu aspect seems very Sims does rpg. What about if i go home, what can i do in your regular sims worlds that is star wars-y? It said the inventory is separate so we might not even get to keep the lightsaber when we go home? What about my reputation, would people who've visited batuu and have another allegiance dislike me? Or is it very much a separate thing, Batuu doesn't exist outside of Batuu? This, to me, feels very much like they wanted to have it both ways, to have their cake and eat it too, and it simply is not enough. I personally love star wars, and would have loved to have whole families live there, to raise jedi and have siblings go darkside, to make money as a smuggler and then return to earth and be like i've never done anything illegal ever, ignore the standing warrants in six different systems please. And in order to not piss off star wars fans you can't touch anything in Batuu to ruin it, and in order to not piss off sims fans, you can't bring anything from it back (i know you can build stuff, but i mean i wanted to use the force to steal from other sims and make them like me or sth) TL;DR: I like star wars and the sims, i wanted to make jedi and sith and cool aliens and This isn't that, it's have your simself go visit Disney's Star Wars Theme Park. Sorry for the rant, love your videos James, I'm happy to watch you play it, but i needed to get that out.

moon omg thank you! These are my exact thoughts! I wanted to have an occult so badly and alien the cas! And would have preferred an expansion pack with all of this included but with the sims these days they never include that much content even though it is a reasonable amount. I think i am mostly upset because i could have had all of that and loved it, and its not even that much to ask for, so I honestly dont know why we aren’t getting it! Ea really needs to sort their rubbish out because i think the community is really starting to give up this time.

in The Sims 1, there was no open world but when you wanted to go Downtown or on vacation or whatever, they sent a vehicle for you and then it went to the end of the road and then you had a loading screen with an image of the vehicle you were travelling in. I WISH they had done that for this pack. Having a Tie fighter or the Millenium Falcon or even just a little speeder pick you up would bethe best ever!

@@rachaels742 Back from watching Plumbella's review . First - she has never watched a Star Wars movie and don't know much about it (she says many times that she was confused) . Second - I'm sure she has not played it long enough to see all the features , that is not a review it's more a first impression . One other thing that I notice was that she was kind bored from the begining (why has she dress up her sim as a clown ???) ...... she seems often to me like a person who plays games just for the money/views and not for fun , I have watched before over 50 videos of her and very often she seems bored and negative . Btw , sometime it's not about " there’s not much to do" - it's more to be at the place and just look arround .... a good example is Island Living , I love it but many KZbinr has give it a bad reviews because the lack of stuff to do .... I have bought Island Living to live on the islands and go to the beach , I was never interest in the new careers .

But the thing is, they didn't even added a new occult, like there are no jedi or sith or at least force users. No, you just build your own lightsaber and boom, now you are cool. Like no, lightsabers are a symbol of force users, not just a cool object. And I also don't like the fact that the world and the story is solely based around the new trilogy because there are a lot of conflictual opinions around the sequels. If think it woukd have been cool if they had chosen the old republic as a stage for the game, adding the conflict between dark and light and focusing more on training of young jedi or sith. But then again there are already a lot of good star wars vidoegames so I don't really see the point. Maybe just a space themed something, maybe a mix between star trek and star wars soley focused on space travel would have been nice idk I write to much I am so sorry And yes I copied and pasted my comment in four videos

I stopped at Eco Lifestyle, be cause when I played it I experienced all the bugs. Also, my 8 year old laptop finally bit the dust so I’m saving for a nice rig. BUT I’m planning on buying the Sims 2, it’s my absolute favorite, and just playing with CC for 4. It’s sad to me that EA haven’t done right by the fans when comes to inclusivity and content for everyone.

@@nickroden9468 you don't have to buy Sims 2! You can find the game (The Complete Collection) in oldgamesdownload for free and it's legal since the game is already considered abandonware. Just follow the instructions on their site for the installing. Sims 2 is a great game, have fun!

This is so separate that I think it would make more sense as a spinof, like Sims Medieval. Doing it this way maybe has more of a chance for people who didn't own Sims 4 to buy it just to play the starwars expansion, but would cost of basegame + a gamepack really seem reasonable for someone who only wants to play that game pack? A spinoff game would probably be somewhere between the price of the the basegame and the price of a game pack. So having it be a game pack makes it cheaper for people who already own sims 4 and more expensive for anyone who buys the basegame just for this, which I don't imagine will be many people.

All these comments talking about how well they've done with it and I just do not get it, y'all. Kindly, what are y'all talking about? I genuinely don't understand. Don't get me wrong I'm glad James is excited, I'm looking forward to more of his videos on it because he always does great let's plays. And sure, it does look nice, and very well themed, but it's not hard to make something look nice when 1) you're following an existing exact model and you have access to whatever information you could need on that model because you have a partnership with the people who built it 2) it doesn't actually need to be functional. It's a non-buildable vacation world (even Jungle Adventure seems like it was less restrictive based on the description here) that you magically pop into via your phone and they didn't even change the flavor text to make that seem less ridiculous. The entire first neighborhood has ONE ROOM you can actually see or interact in/with. The other buildings function like dressers. Based on James's comment and the cut: you have to go through a loading screen to get between the first order's area and the place where you can change/manage your needs despite that place not even being a lot that would need to load (because it's a giant dresser). So far all of the gameplay has just been talking to NPCs (granted, I realize it is still early and this is pretty normal and doesn't mean there won't be more variation to come, but still...) and there doesn't seem like there are many items you can even interact with in either of these first two areas. So I just do not get it. What are you all seeing that I'm not that's making you go ooo aahhh way to go sims team over this? I'm genuinely curious.

The original designs had Galaxy's Edge on Tatooine themed after the original Star Wars. But then Kathleen Kennedy came in and forced them to base it on her failed trilogy. Hence the First Order and the Resistance.

this isnt anything like strangerville when it comes to mechanics. considering how you cant even live in this world. you vacation. you cant even build in this world either.... you wont see regular townies walking around in it? you wont see jedi walking in the real world? its a good thing but at the same thing bad. its basically a seperate sims game but its in the sims 4 game. they took the slot for a gamepack vs just making this its own game..... if they made this its own game, they couldve went wild and didnt have to be on a certain amount of items, for a gamepack, since it will be its own actual game. but naw. they not only took a slot for a gamepack where a theme couldve been used to add actual gameplay to the sims(that we needed). and then this couldve been a spin off game itself like james said, added new occults, a world u live in and build in, etc. they wouldnt have been limited to the items they add in it vs adding items in a gamepack :/ very disappointed.

Thanks for the review James. Although my feelings about this pack have not changed. It's discouraging because this game has the platform for so many amazing things but they continue to only bring weird, none lifelike content. Being a Life simulation game that is missing even the basic things in life really makes this game hard to keep playing. Playing sims since the beginning 20 years ago and not having gameplay for babies/toddlers/children/teens is the worst. CARS are a basic in life but yet they are not included in a sims life including school buses for kids and carpools where all the sims just randomly disappear (I mean really, why?). Imagination and storytelling is hard to do when you're missing the basics in bring those fundamental elements into your gameplay. I will continue to hope that one day the sims team will fill those empty voids but until then I am no longer a supporter. I have continued purchasing all the packs and everything thinking the items we ask for (Generations/cars) will one day be here and it will bring everything together but I feel robbed, ignored and fooled. I will not be buying anything further until they return to the basics.

The layout of Batuu is exactly what Disney built in its theme parks, which is pretty cool imo. And it really is very very similar with all the small details. I'm excited for this to come out! Also, when international travel is possible again I highly recommend you go to one of the parks, Galaxy's Edge is amazing for Star Wars fans - I haven't had the opportunity to ride the Rise of the Resistance yet (looks like a huge advancement in ride technology), but the Millennium Falcon ride blew my mind. So cool to actually fly the Falcon!

Michele Fullarton I live in Orl (grew up an hour away actually) and I’m way over Disney. It’s so overrated, overpriced and not worth the hours wait to get on a single ride. Even with their fast pass (or whatever it’s called) it’s not worth the 15 min drive to spend hundreds of $$$ for a day in the blistering heat and humidity. It’s the biggest tourist trap around. I couldn’t imagine spending thousands of dollars to fly here just to go there or even just to spend a holiday in Orlando. 😬 There’s so many better places to visit.

Sims players would have thought it pretty cool to have a Star Wars Stuff Pack, or for the Star Wars licience to be used to boost the Alien lifestate. Or if this had been like Strangeville, because you can live in Strangeville, and it came with new abilities. And you could use your own money in Strangerville too. Or even treat it like a Roleplay, or a theme park pack. Instead they try to make it like an actual single-play adventure. It's even hard to use Batuu things in regular builds - despite how they do look pretty desert based - because it's so much a theme park that you're visiting.
