Not that it helps the pack, but there is a way to change your Batuu outfits in the outpost area. They just function separately from your normal outfits so that you can have one set when you visit Batuu and go back to your original clothes when you return home. I find this 1 redeeming thing about the world. EVERY sim is wearing clothes from the pack. Not one sim is walking around wearing a random ugly townie outfit or an immersion breaking vampire dress.

If I am not mistaken (and usually I am) I think EA had a contract with Disney where they needed to come out with a Star Wars-inspired pack and their contract was ending. Also, EA knows that no matter how angry people get over packs, they are still going to be bought

I found a loop hole if you go to Batuu as the Flower Bunny you stay as the flower bunny in the bunny suit and are not stripped of your bunny suit. So much fun and very surreal going around batuu as the flower bunny! 🤣😂😆

I did the enable build cheat and put a little hottub in one of the nooks in the cantina. It's great to see everyone take off their rubber starwars mask and continue their days in bathingsuits.

I mean, Disney is very strict with their franchises... Theres no way a player character is dying in Batuu, Disney's world, hence the trait that helps motives. They did not include any lots in the world, because, what if a player built something obscene or degrading of the franchise within the world of Star Wars right? Same for the clothing. What if a Sim visited Batuu in a clown outfit to mock the franchise? Hell no. I don't know why EA thought a deal with Disney for this pack was a good idea but here we are

And we as real simmers build obscene things in Batuu anyway. And we manage to go there as a clown. And we put an indoor grill so the lot lights on fire and our sim dies in the flames just because we can. Deal or no deal. Simmers find a way. I don't like the Starwars story in the pack. But I manage to have so much fun in Batuu. Not as they intended, but as I intend.

I don't know about not being able to build. I was able to build in the Resistance camp area. The only issue I met was that there's that debug cave that can't be deleted. I remember I managed to delete it somehow, but a few saves later, it respawned.

One of my sims convinced a teacher to join the empire and that teacher emmidiately pulled a laser rifle and was armed with laser rifle always. I thought it looked fun and shared a picture of the teacher on the forum. That picture was taken down by administrators and I was lectured about not to post that sort of pictures on the forum.

You can actually use their build buy items in a desert world. Namely Oasis Springs or Strangerville. It kinda fits there if you really wanna use the items. But also, I got really bored myself after playing with this pack too. A lot of clicking on stuffs and asking random Sims about stuffs for missions and I was already yawning profusely. I had more fun playing with Strangerville.

I didn't really play this pack too much but I did use some of the items for hidden rooms deep underneath a few of my builds and blamed it on the local aliens who stole stuff from Batuu and Sims that were really big Star Wars fans.

I stumbled upon your videos not too long ago and MY GOD is it refreshing to have someone give brutally honest reviews and say the things everyone else thinks but never actually says. You have saved me so much time and money by watching your reviews. I think we all know EA has a habit of not actually showing us the gameplay features to make packs look better and that’s how they end up getting people to buy packs thinking it’ll be one thing but being brutally disappointed after they actually buy the pack. It’s annoying that you have to build a rocket and have a rocket science skill to get to “space” in the base game but because you can just “travel” to batuu by fake set dressing debug cars my theory is that batuu isn’t even supposed to be real it’s all just sims cosplaying hardcore

For a money-loving company that is EA, they should develop a basic framework (still implements some core Sims gameplay aspect just to not alienate the general Sims audience) that they could easily put in other IP's assets so they don't have to start from scratch whenever a big sponsorship opportunity arises. But I guess, I wouldn't expect EA to be that visionary nor considerate of their game developers. This pack feels like the higher ups just slapped the developers a huge workload last minute.

Having been to the Disney Batuu many times, I am enjoying this pack. The pack, I would say, is more like taking your Sim to the Disney park on vacation. The aliens are Cast Members doing their jobs etc.

I think I've been dreading the day that this review would happen but it's here and I still appreciate it. This pack still remains one of my favorites for these reasons: -it lets me make my own character in the Star Wars universe, -I can choose which side I want to fight for -the two points are honestly everything that your regular Star Wars game will not offer. And that's why I think that this pack is amazing. Unfortunately, it was not sold separately and it should have been much like Sims Medieval or Sims Castaway. I don't know why this point is not the main critique for most simmers reviewing it; why trash talk this pack for so long and mention this issue in passing. This could have been a fantastic Star Wars collector's item. I don't think it deserves the hate it gets. In my opinion the aspiration style missions were simple yet had more gameplay and was more immersive than lots of the game or Expansion packs. I'd still play this over pets, vampire, spellcaster, and too many others. It also has less lag. Again, I think the biggest issue with this pack is that it should have been its own separate game. I honestly think EA would have made WAaaay more money selling it separately. I could see a Star wars fan buying this game for maybe 15 bucks to play maybe 2-3hrs of gameplay but with unmatched character customization. Especially if you consider the Star Wars cc available for PC gamers. I've been playing the Sims since 2000, I've been a fan of sci Fi for just as long. I can appreciate this pack for what it is, I can't understand the hate it's getting for something that was clearly a decision EA dug its heels in about.

Unpopular opinion and not a huge Star Wars fan. I actually like this pack. Don't ask me why. I have played through the missions with several of my Sims. Is it a go to often? Nope, but I honestly like it when I do play it. BTW I learned the Star Wars stories through Lego Star Wars. Such fun!

As a Star Wars fan who loves Star Wars games…hate this pack on priciple. Mostly cause Sims has it’s own Alien/Sci-Fi lore that doesn’t gel with Star Wars. This pack is basically a ‘CosPlay Star Wars in the Sims’ game. Also this is basically when Disney was desperate for folks to buy into the sequel trilogy by any mean necessary. 🥱 Even tho Strangerville was just copying elements of Stranger Things it at least is putting it’s own Sims spin on it and you get a town for it that you can live in.

I actually had decent fun with this pack, but I think that's cause I'm specifically a Disney Parks nerd. It's a bit better if you've been there irl, navigation is easier since it's a very faithful recreation and it's a fun novelty seeing all the different characters in the sims. To be honest, I'm pretty sure Journey to Batuu's main demographic was Disney Parks executives who'd never touched a Sims game in their lives. It does a very good job if you view it that way, it's just unfortunate that the overlap between Disney executives and Sims players is zero lmao

I remember how hyped this release was, but then when they announced it would be Star Wars, there were a lot of disappointed simmers, including me. XD I got it on sale for the light fixtures. And I can see how some of the objects would be nice for a dystopian world. I meant to create one with Eco Living but that pack just busted my game so I turned all its features off and never went back. I can't wait to see what you have to say about Eco. That's the next one I'm watching!

As someone who has played this pack just to see what it had, you actually can change your default Batuu outfit. You can click on your lodging and you have the option to edit your Batuu outfit. But I know everyone could care less because basically no one who is not a Star Wars far (I'm a Star Wars fan so I gave this useless pack a chance) will not like it. 🙃

I really don't like Starwars. But I love this pack. Mainly because it makes me feel naughty for using the enable build cheat and bulldozing the Cantina and placing all kinds of stuff that disturb the gameplay. In all worlds I built serious stuff for serious wholesome gameplay, having my sims live their best lives. But in Batuu I fool around as much as I can. Because Batuusims stay in Batuu, so nobody will ever know.

Honestly I like quite a few of the CAS and buildbuy objects (I'm a sucker for junk, old looking, dieselpunk-y objects), but the combination of not having anywhere really to put them (unless you, like, completely transmogrify a desert world; and even then uglee ass and random townies are still gonna pop up) and the fact that we've recently gotten more junky objects make this "pack" feel even more obsolete. It's like, as more time goes by, the worse buttuu becomes, which is kinda astounding

I didn't scroll through all the comments so I'm not sure if anyone else mentioned this, but you can build in Batuu using the enable freebuild cheat to customize three of the lots (the rebel base, stormtrooper base, and the Cantina). I bought the Star Wars pack for the build/buy items mostly, but I haven't done much gameplay.

Could have been a pack about theme park that give us theme park gameplay with attractions and souvenirs. The new destination world could just be 1 super massive special theme park lot. Theme park lot type can only be built here like they did the high school lot type. The default theme park that came with it could just be a Star Wars theme park because they do have real life Star Wars theme park. Just make assets based on those. Drones and lightsaber as souvenirs. Maybe another lot as hotel lot type that is also available for other worlds, giving us hotel gameplay. Don't even have to let us own the hotel, just able to rent room for staying. People can build things like desert motel in StrangerVille, island resort in Sulani, etc. And they can milk more money later by selling theme park kits. Disneyland kit. Zoo kit. Aquarium kit. Fairground kit. Renaissance Fair kit. etc. Even Annual Festival kits(like Coachella, Burning Man), which will open door for artist collaborations to milk even more money by selling their "[Artist's Name] Sims Tour Kit" came with their likeness as NPC, concert set pieces and music in Simlish. This is like DLC for DLC for DLC. We all know they are greedy but if they're also smart about it, they can make so much more money.

What I had heard was Disney Imagineering had to present the “world” as it is presented in the parks. Everything had to be “authentic” but as someone who loves Star Wars and has been to Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland this is not even an accurate representation of the parks which are so beautiful and detailed. And yes, you can use actual money in the real parks to buy Galactic Credits which are linked to your account/park ticket so the mission feature from the pack is something in the parks…the main gameplay isn’t even original.

The thing about Batuu is that it is not for Simmers - it was made as a marketing ploy to bring in new players who are interested in Star Wars, see this pack, and decide to try the Sims. It was not made as a genuine attempt at a great pack, and it never will be. Games do it all the time - look at Fortnite. EA and Maxis will never care how much we criticise it, because it was not made for us. We were not the packs target audience, it was a business move, which needs to be taken into account when looking at it. However, I love watching Batuu slander and this made my day, so keep it coming 😂

I'm sorry but... I'm not a serious star wars fan, saw the originals when I was a kid and that's about it. Having said that, I guess I'm one of the few people that enjoyed the pack. This is from someone who went back to Sims 3. EVERYTHING in the sims is repetitive, so I can't count that against them. The missions, doing the same things over and over again, are just the same way as any career or skill in the game, a lot of the live careers do things that don't make sense. And the rewards for the Galactic Privateer aspiration does work in the real world in that one of them is to pickpocket and steal from other sims. You know, one the rewards they have for practically everything but it doesn't have a cool down. The food can be learned and used in regular lots, just like every other pack. And things you buy or find in Batuu can be taken back and sold for simoleons. I didn't enjoy it because I like Star Wars, I enjoyed it because I do like fantasy game play. I do use the objects in my alien sims homes, or used to. I do (did) use some of the clothes in real world. Just like with any other pack, I did enjoy the challenge of collecting everything. So with all that I really don't see how its that different than any other pack. Glitches and disappointments with them all. I will say you sounded a little bit angry from the beginning and was pretty harsh throughout. Personally, I feel if the pack is accepted for what it is then its not bad. What it is is role playing for sims. The problem is that we thought it was star wars and its sims role playing star wars, like those people who spend their weekends cosplaying. If they had told us that instead of the rest then maybe it would have been more accepted. Doubtful but maybe. Is it a great pack? No. I just don't feel its as bad as a lot of the community makes it out to be.

There was a game called Star Wars the Clone Wars Adventures and you could purchase and build on lots. It had one of the most fun building modes ever and they really should have just made a Star Wars game like that again with better building mechanics and clothes for Star Wars fans.

Even after i stopped making bunkers as much i still use the pack quite a bit on certain characters and when i'm practicing building with certain themes. In my average world though i never use it

I will never be less annoyed that all the work poured into Batuu, they couldn't flesh out and expand on the literal Sims 4 aliens lore, Sixam etc. Give me a Sixam world pack, a playable pollinator career with a good and evil branch, more CAS options for aliens, a skill tree and some better science fiction build/buy.

I was really hoping this pack would enhance Aliens! I was bummed that it’s only costumes! Of course, you could “dress” your aliens’ alien forms in these costumes to make them look different, but it’s all set dressing, sadly :(

I’d enjoy using the batuu stuff for my actual alien storylines. Like, I’d use the build/buy items to give the illusion of a spaceship, and dress my aliens in the batuu clothing so they stand out, like this is the best they could do to blend in whilst in disguise. Or dress my sims up for the geekcon. Otherwise yeah the batuu world and pack isn’t for me, I’ve not even watched Star Wars 😅

DISCLAIMER: In the first place i wanna say that i absolutelly hate Star Wars, i never saw it all, only a few minutes from each movie, and i absolutely 100% despise the franchise i dont know why, its just...ufggg just hate it. And when this pack came out i was among the first people who hated on it and for a good reason was disapointed because the sims + star wars? IT sounded like someones fewer dream, like a total: "this crazy idea can never happen". Unreal: to say it nicely. And for a long time i refused to buy it. Then 2years later i got it from relatives as a gift. AND- Surprisingly i disagree with everything you say. IYou can use the clothing and all the CAS in the game without a problem. Yes it doesnt fit the game if you play conservative. But i use that CAS all the time, it works well. For example if you play with aliens from Get to work EP. So its not like u CANT use those items. You definetly CAN use them 😂😂. Also in Batuu yes you are logged in with a default costume , but you can go to the Inn and change that costume to wathever you want to wear in Batuu. So saying that costumes are unusable ISNT true. I even accidentaly used those costumes in daily life bcs i didnt notice im wearing it. Also droids and light sabers WORK outside of Batuu. I played like that and they are functional. You cant fight with lightsabers outside and inside Batuu bcs your opponent needs to also have a lightsaber. But it can be changed easily. So its not true that you cant use those items. Its true u cannot build in Batuu, only on that one designated spot, BUT who would want to build in Batuu? Why? Its an unique , vacation world with only one purpose. Also you can use all build/buy objects outside of Batuu. So its not true they are locked or unusable. I used them so i know they are usable. As for gameplay- i really enjoyed it, it was fun and it worked well. Its not true you do missions for the sake of missions. You do missions for the sake of ranking up to be a higher up official so you can take over the world. I ended up as the highest official and started as "spy" to gain info on the other side to infiltrate, just for fun(bcs there was nothing else to do after i became the boss), but then the scoundrel boss approached me and gave me the option to sell the intel info and i not only did sell the info i also changed the sides from the bad dudes to good dudes. For exchange for the info. When Kylo Ren found out all the bad dudes wanted to beat me up bad, and everyone chased me as soon as they saw me. I then hijacked the good dudes (bcs i now was with them) and destroyed them from the inside then i changed sides again to bad dudes😂😂. Idk how these quests and options came out but it really happened. I was very pleasantly surprised it is possible. So yea, saying it has no gameplay is a lie. Also missions for the sake of missions is also a lie. But i understand sometimes people dont have enought imagination to play more than inside the box 😅😅. But yea this ep is defo bad, bcs of all the missed opportunities, like where is the Jedi occult life state?, Why is everything a costume? Why do we in the first place need this world at all? So i agree that this pack is unnecessary as heck, and doesnt need to even exist😂 Edit: also i forgot to add that everything from changing clothes to carrying to sims needs, to sleeping etc is done in the Inn -that small hotel like building at the end of the map. It may work as a rabit hole, but who really needs to watch their sims go to toilet when they are chased by Kylo Ren, right? Also you can defo live there. I lived there one life stage as teenager who ran away from home and ended up in an alien world by accident😅 Maybe try to play it NOT for the sake of trahing it, but for the sake of creative gameplay😅 sorry if im mean. But i dont like half truths or lies

The only pack I refuse to buy. Even when it's 50% off. I wanted it for the droids but then found out you can't play with the droids outside of Batuu so nope, I'm good. The Darth Vader costumes that were thrown into base game along with the little Yoda doll that they added to build buy is adorable and I do use those for gameplay sometimes. So thanks for that EA for giving me those and not making me pay for them.

I really wish there was a way to delete a pack or get a refund (anytime, not just seconds after you buy it) on a pack because I REALLY regret wasting my money on this pack when I don't even play it. I mean I don't wanna delete it because I spent money on it but at the same time, I hate seeing this game in my library.
