Thank you for posting it. I've watched eight different real estate photographers today, explaining and teaching how they photograph interiors. What I liked the most was, no one does it the same way! The only common, and logical, point was: use a wide angle lens. Everything else, from positioning to lights, from outside the window view to light paintings, all is different and unique to the style of the photographer! Not to the property, but to the style of the photographer. Great ideas. No one size fits all. Thanks again.

In theory Luminosity mode works great but in practice it usually causes more color issues than it’s worth. These issues are usually where the ambient shot has over exposed areas.

I enjoyed this. Why are you changing shutter speed between ambient and flash, and how are you determining how much to change? When you shoot your ambient shot, are you shooting carefully for correct exposure, or just getting a shot and perking it up in light room?
@RichBaum5 жыл бұрын
Yes change SS I use my iPad to see the exposure I have as while tethered I see my exposure real time / it's called Exposure Preview..
@realographystudios70355 жыл бұрын
@@RichBaum Your tethering program is called Exposure Preview? I do have another question, since I've never done this before. I'm following along with you step by step, and still struggling to get a deliverable result. The problem seems to be getting all of the shots at the same exposure. I keep running into having too much flash or too much ambient and I get mottled, inconsistent light in places, especially where the brightest part of the flash meets the ambient. Obviously, the flash is applied to areas where the lighting is poor (in the ambient shot) so that when they are blended, the result is a consistent appearance. I've not been able to get even a tiny bit close. Are you just so good, naturally, that you are making lemonade from lemons, or is it all lemonade to begin with? Are your ambient exposures so close to deliverable in the first place that you don't really need to be doing this at all? If my exposures are so close to the same in both shots, then I'm not sure what the advantage is. I need to be able to do this in homes where lighting is bad, color casts are obvious, etc. In other words, to FIX bad light. I don't see how it is possible to do that. I also don't have a 400 dollar strobe, so my 2 little speed lights have to carry the load. I thought about jumping in and spending the dough and getting the explor 600, but really, all that does is make the distinction between the bad light and the flash that much more exaggerated. What am I missing here? Where is my thinking wrong? Have you done any tutorials where the houses are small, weird, have multi colored light bulbs, no windows to help, and a gloomy day all combine to mess up your life? I'd love to see some of that.

Really liked the video. One question is you did not mention the flash you used especially for the steps. Or if you used a strobe, same question. Thank you.

Thanks Rich. I am an amateur who doesn't even do real estate but I am interested in how to light interior/exterior and blend them together. I think that I'm beginning to get the hang of this stuff. My biggest initial problem was the mask. It seemed counter-intuitive to apply a mask to a layer and then paint it back in! I struggled to recall the detail that needed to be painted. Of course swapping from white brush to black did the trick when I screwed up. After watching about 10 of your videos I am beginning to get there. Your easy, gentle descriptive style helps me to understand the technique. Great stuff. Thanks again. I am learning a lot and enjoying your presentations. David Bailey, UK.

Thanks for these great tutorials! What did you mean when you said you set your lens to infinity-focus rather than auto-focus?
@RichBaum5 жыл бұрын
I find when I sent my focus on my Samyang 12mm to just shy of infinity it will get most everything in focus at f7.1//

@@RichBaum I shoot with a nikon 7200. I think it only has manual or auto-focus.

Nice video. Do you have any tips for bringing in the raw files from the a6000 into lightroom? I have an a6000 but have not found a convenient way to bring them in. My version of lightroom will not import them. Thanks for any help. By the way, I have been watching Nathan Cool's videos and he very often compliments you so that's how I knew to watch your video. Clark

Clark, to import directly you need to update your Lightroom which will most likely need to subscribe to Adobe A workaround is to download a DNG converter, convert your Sony files to DNG and import them If you do a search on line there is lots of info on this subject.

Thanks Rich. Great tutorials. Very helpful. I'm really thankful for having such great in detailed tutorials. Can you create a video with you are shooting an interior with no natural light. I recently did a shoot and was stuck with lighting and white balance issues. Looking forward to more in depth content. Thanks again.
