Great video! Regarding the pink sky, that particular color shade is called wild strawberry. If you google it you'll see the exact same color shade pop up. It's a nod/wink to the meaning of Ichigo's name, which is strawberry. I think a lot of people never realized that fact and dismissed the pink coloring as a random and weird design choice, when in fact it was very deliberate. Bleah is everything!

I think my favorite part of this moment is what it says about real life. With ichigo accepting white as well as old man zangetsu, the story tells you that in order to create balance within yourself, you must learn to accept who you are, including your shadow self. Most media and especially songs often speak of “defeating the demon within” in some regard, but bleach instead tells you to harmonize and become one with it, because that demon is you. That is why I love this moment so much.

Kubo was always so misterious and secretive with all these plot points so the audience knows as much as Ichigo about his past, this is why EBTR and "The blade is me" are so important, and Ichigo finally accepting his origins and forgiving his regrets is one of the best character development i've seen

This was amazing. Ichigo coming to terms with his inner self and reforging his Zanpakuto is the most important element of this saga. Now he is ready to battle Yhwach and save the worlds. He has achieved his struggle and made peace with himself. His epic hybrid power is ready, it's also ironic that it also put him in peril as a Spirit King candidate.

@@miktmikleson4891 That was a contingency, Ichibei didn't believe Ichigo would win. It's the only reason Squad Zero trained and gave him his powers back. Yhwach's essence was apparently completely destroyed after coming into contact with Kazui.

I'm not really sure if Taguchi did it on purpose but I looked up what pink skies mean and it means "new beginnings" if that's true it makes sense why the opening was in pink and why that scene was pink in the anime

It's very likely that Taguchi just wanted some bold color to use to offset the more grey-scale they used to depict the desolate nature of the arc... though, that being said, I can't imagine he picked pink at random when something like blue and/or red would aesthetically fit the arc better. Or, even violet, if you take the red of Shingami and blue of Quincy together.

I had the same reaction at the pink sky in his inner world and went from hype to really confused, but it really was the best way to get the monochrome to full color effect across. The bright pink, to no color, back to all colors......a sentence makes it sound like a simple thing but it really was some of that Taguchiology you were talking about before the anime started. Sometimes you gotta take a step back and ask yourself what makes Bleach.....well Bleach. It's these moments. I definitely feel like Taguchi was made for scenes like these. I can't imagine it being done by somebody else. We only had like one scene with a sword swing between both episodes which should be Isshin saving Masaki from Hollowfication (I could be wrong if its more). But how many of us were sitting here waiting for so long to get the "Blade is me" scene? Not realizing we sat there for almost an hour of just talking.....how many other anime shows could get away with that and fans be happy? I think I can confidently say none other than Bleach.

Beautifully done.. I was never emotional reading or watching the old bleach anime. For you this moment showed a beauty better then the manga . For me it was the Unohana vs Kenpachi fight. Both beautiful moments the anime handled extremely well... Also hearing Number 1 play was a cherry on top

This episode is my fav episode from this cour too (except number one playing; didn't like that choice). Close 2nd is 7 and 10. And The Blade is Me is the landmark moment in Bleach series. Here it's just Kubo firing on all cylinders. Everything has been set up and when chapter 542 or episode 13 ends, I have tears in my eyes. it's just so relatable and cathartic. Cementing Ichigo as a perfect MC for Bleach and tying up one of the most important plot threads in such a masterful way. Chapters 520 to 542 is peak Bleach for me. Great video as always.

@@joelwilness849 yea I don't mind anything else playing, but Number One I feel like is a hype OST. And for me this moment isn't hype. It's something of closure and catharsis. So I would have loved any of the slower or more subtle OST, old or new.

Really?! Number one was super important here. Music is really key for a scene and for one it is HIS theme. But even that aside, Oetsu and Co have a vibe that matches the song so them talking along side it works really well. Especially when they told him to take out his Zanpakuto. This is also one of the few times we have a scene long enough them to time the music with certain lines. Again pulling the Zanpakuto out and when the "Blade is me" line was said.

With everything that we've learned in these chapters, I think it's a safe assumption to make, that captain ukitake and captain shunsui both have a dual spirit like ichigo, in ukitake case its obvious cause plot, but shunsui isnt concrete but its more than likely that its a hollow, based on the design of shunsuis bankai and that yamamoto had a relationship with young shunsui, and it's also the reason why dual zanpakto are so rare, they require 2 souls within the soul reaper and for the soul reaper to come to terms with that

This literally brought me to tears. A perfect episode that is impossible to match. The pride on whites face fucking broke me. The only Scene that feels this same way is in FMABH where ed gives up his gate of truth, and truth itself say that he's figured it out, he won. This is the same experience i get here. I love this moment always and the acting of Masakazu Morita and Takayuki Sugo, it was really good... But sadly if you are an anime viewer, i think the problem of shook value and focusing on showy stuff really hurt this moment, i truly feel it for an anime viewer, but because i remember the experience of reading the manga chapters as they were coming out in Nimaiya's Palace and breaking my brain about what was the true relationship between user and Zanpakutou, or if my crazy theory, that came to me after we first saw Yhwach, at the time of White being Ichigo's true Zanpakutou (I still can believe one of my crazy theories turn out to be right, but i think this speaks more of Kubo's mastery with his foreshadowing, because i re-read all the chapters with White more times then i can count analyzing his actitud in it in this time between each chapter, where the theory was gaining more strength in my head). And all the clues that Kubo keep giving us about all of this stuff, and it was an amazing time (If you ignore the toxic part of the anime community throwing us not very nice words, which i did) to be a Bleach fan, and i feel not a lot of anime fans got this, because you didn't get the chance to hear why the Zanpakutou are angry, you didn't heard Nimaiya complain about how certain ways to see the Zanpakutou are just wrong. You didn't got any of that... And as a fan i feel sad, because it was one of the best moments for multiple chapters in the manga in my opinion.

Although I'm 2 months late, I hope this still gets a little bit of attention, although I don't necessarily like the final ending of bleach bleach has always been something that's full of deep level of art concept and commitment to a story, from his messages which each volume starts with with the connection to the names and themes, you can argue it's execution but you cannot ignore just how amazing it is, and for a long long long long long time before it's Second Chance of life in its final Arc people have not just slept on this they have kicked it, call that bad writing bad storytelling bad everything, many years later people calling it poetry, Peak storytelling, beautiful, it's crazy how so many changes there mind.

Hey mine to, I was 9yo when it aired at the time haha. It's funny how it changes, when I was 7-10 my favourite was Naruto, then when I was teenager it was Bleach and now as an grown ass adult it's One Piece. But Bleach and Naruto Shippuden brings me most nostalgia. Ichigo vs Byakuya and Naruto Shippuuden opening always be in my kokoro. I was waiting for TYBW to happen for so long, best and most epic anime comback ever. You start to think and feel deep inside that it was all Kubo's plan. People now appreciate it twice as much. Now only if Hajime no Ippo gets a comeback too.

I didn’t like the pink. Didn’t work for me. Could’ve made it blue instead of pink, would’ve looked like the old anime and still do what the scene did. Also Number One remix playing as Ichigo was reaching for the blade was just dumb. It’s like having a death metal song in a funeral. Also the credit lines were so annoying.

1. Credit lines at the season finale are not unusual- happens all the time. 2. Perceiving OMZ’s final moments as a funeral shows you missed the point. That was not a moment of sadness but of joy. It was not a moment of anguish and pain of losing a loved one but gaining two in the process. Maybe number 1 wasn’t a song you like (that’s fair) but it was 100% a triumphant moment needing uplifting music. 3. I don’t like the pink much either but I’ve since learned that it’s a play on the STRAWBERRY aspect of Ichigo and as I said in the video, Taguchi clearly wanted to go full black and white during the despair part of the conversation and then into bright colors at the end. That automatically means you cannot start with bright- go into black and white- and then back into bright. It becomes redundant. So he goes pink(strawberry) into black and white and then into color. You don’t have to like it(I fully understand) but there was clearly a goal in mind.
