Yeah the damages in the ship were beyond repair so they scrapped the whole ship and sold all the scrap for 1.2 billion dollars

After the ship hit the underwater rocks it went into deeper water. The wind actually blew into shore where in rolled on its side on a rock ledge. The captain claimed he sailed into the shore. If it had sank in deeper water there would’ve been thousands drowned.
