I cannot put into words that the military NEVER HONORED these soldiers for their duty. Just willing to let them be forgotten but God had another plan!! Thank you to the women of the six triple eight!!!!
@thewordsmith5440Ай бұрын
Fun Fact: They dishonorable discharged the large majority of black WWII veterans so they couldn't receive GI benefits this was the funds that created the white middle class and there were towns built for returning white soldiers that black people weren't allowed to live in. FHA housing was invented during this time.

Harlem Hailcats, Hidden figures, Red tails, The Six Triple Eight. This is just some of black America's accomplishments . God knows we have been nothing more than a gift to this country. You can only achieve these kind of things through a spiritual power greater than yourself . Our ancestors has over achieved in this country. Unfortunately historically never getting there credit. Hopefully now they will these movies tell our story.

Very happy the 6888 Army Core. My 1st cousin once removed, Ruth Wright 1920 - 2013, was a member of this unit. She shared memories with the family often. After separating from the service she went on to have a remarkable life.

Commemorating World War 2’s historical significance of the 6888 Women and other units of the Armed Services where Black women served their country in different capacities defending the home territories and being of great service is way overdue. Thanks to the persistence of those who carried the torch to the Whitehouse. Gratitude to all who have made this recognition possible.

My sister just told me about these ladies, after i told her i just finished up watching "Mahalia", which i'd been wanting to see for quite some time. I'm 68, my sister is 66, yet, i've never heard of these ladies. She's also more the intellectual brainiac than i am. So she'd know. Hmm, sooo, quess i'lll give the docu a watch, first, and then, the Netflix movie.

Was a great movie about women in the Military that warrant our appreciation and honors. It was a "Time for Change" in America and the Armed Forces that finally came later. Of note: I think having a "Expert Military Advisor" for the film would have lent to period and accuracy.
