Hey, even though I'm from N.C., something culturally racist happened to me. I didn't see it coming. See, I'm a millenial but an adopted Aunt of mine, who I had been helping, (on and off), with a business of hers. Yet, one day I wore a pair of earrings. She both asked me, why I wore them, & that she didn't like men wearing earrings. She said, "I like it, when men wear one, but not 2. What you wear, you send a message to folks". I almost couldn't believe it, and had to explain to her, even when I was a junior in High School, there were a noticeable amount of senior boys who wore earrings.

Racism is also taught by not teaching history properly there is no reason why as a kid my parents had to homeschool me to educate me to the fact that we live 45 minutes from the exact slave market that still stands in Fayetteville North Carolina that my great-great-grandfather was sold from not once but twice there is no reason why our children are not taught about certain civil rights movements that took place I think my parents are their hindsight even though my father was a radio disc jockey for foxy 99 and my mother herself was a school teacher they saw that the daughters of the Confederacy had participation and influence when it came to writing our history books needless to say we didn't use those history books but I say that to say this racism is Alive and Well in the fake Bible Belt my husband and I just finished having conversation last night about stories coming out of Pembroke North Carolina how bigoted some of their views still are did they have the nerve to have a Veterans Day parade and invite my husband to attend we will pass and this election is dividing our country even more so or even shining a brighter light on the bigots that live among us! And what the veteran went through is very disheartening we're just now starting to course correct the racism that is going on in the VA when it comes to helping black veterans my husband is a disabled Vietnam veteran mind you his father was the first black veteran on what used to be called Fort Bragg in my opinion it had no business being named after a Confederate Trader to begin with but anywho this is why we move forward with getting it renamed to Fort Liberty I always remind myself it takes a level of self-hatred to Central whiteness at every turn because a critical thinker knows that you have to stand ten toes down in your worth and no we're not better than anyone but we most certainly are different but we are more alike than we care to admit! #ADOS
