No vehicle in the market is quite like my yeti. That’s why I ve been happily buzzing around in it for the last 7 years and hope to continue doing so for the next few years at least!

The space above the seat line isn't measured when the seats are in place. There's a line on the car that marks where luggage space is measured too, that's usually the window line. So the 417ltr boot is measured with all the seats up and up to the seat line; it's massive in other words.

Ive bought a 2.0tdi 110 experience model from 2011 here in ireland. Not as much standard kit as a uk version like an elegance, but a really great car excellent build, great standard bolero audio etc

I have the SE 2.0 litre lowest powered TDI version of the Yeti since June 2010. It's advertised as 108bhp, it actually has 121bhp (rolling road tested). Fantastic all round car, no problems, and i'm averaging 52mpg at over 70mph on the motorway with 5 people on board! Only gripe is the headlight bulbs were crap (repalced them), maybe a top-spec 'elegance' next time round which has , and leather seats as standard.

I was fed up driving a large station wagon, hence boot space - but I wanted a small car like a mini, but because the wheelchair I couldn't. So actually getting the yeti it's like having the best of both worlds. We have the boot space for the adult wheelchair and walking frame, leaving enough leg room in back for my two 6' teenagers. Handles slippery country lanes fab, goes round sharp corners swiftly and that's without needing to touch the brakes - just ease off the gas peddle & drives no probs. Even tho we've only got the 1.2 he's plenty of powerful enough for us, even leaves motorbikes and 4x4's standing

I previously had a 2013 Fabia with the 1.2 TSI engine (85bhp) and it had the best engine I've ever driven. Now driving a 2015 Mini Cooper 5 door because I wanted something a bit faster and more solid. Bored of the Mini already and want something a bit higher and practical. Would you still recommend the Yeti?

I realise this is an old, old video, but just wanted to say my 2014 Yeti 4x4 140ps is now at 275000kms, and has been the most rattle free, reliable and long lasting car I've ever had. My prior German built Golf developed rattles and other problems within months, let alone former cars that were far more luxurious and powerful, but equally less well built and bullet proof. I heavily modified my poor Yeti during Covid downtime, and made it a Frankenstein from the Audi and VW parts bin, as well as lots of aftermarket bits, and now it's just a hilariously fun 5 second go-cart to drive, that gets so much attention. I'd highly recommend this car to anyone who is after a small SUV that's seemingly very well built. I know some had issues with door rust and the like, and perhaps I'm just lucky, but I will never sell this car, actually just bought a van to take over it's workday duties so I can recondition the engine and driveline.

Depends on your country, if you live in Ireland a Skoda is a lot more affordable to buy than a VW. When they trade in they are about the same, also the Skoda gets a lot more kit as standard here. The Tiguan has better ground clearance and a bigger boot/cabin than the Yeti. Brand image isn't as much of a problem here as it is in your country, Skoda have shaken it off

Thanks for your reply. I guess the situation is quite different in Ireland. I thought the Yeti would be much cheaper here too than the VW but was surprised to find that isn't the case. With regards to brand image, Skoda isn't really seen in a negative light here, but its simply not as well established as it only arrived here a few years ago. The Peugeot 4008 and Citroen C4 Aircross will further complicate the decision. The 4008 looks great IMO. Look forward to your review.

It's a personal thing, automatic verses manual. The manual will be more economical and lower CO2 if that matters to you. I prefer the comfort an auto gives especially in traffic. Either car will be great

Good review. I live in Australia and if I was in the market for a compact SUV (auto with petrol engine), and had about 40k to spend, I simply won't be able to spend it on the Yeti rather than on the Tiguan. The same I feel goes for the Kia Sportage; the Tiguan seems to be simply a better buy. I know you're just reviewing this car by itself, but in relation to its competition its not very well priced (taking into consideration depreciation and subsequent resale value) and also brand image.

Bob, can't the too low down gearstick be sorted with some sort of extension or longer stick? I think there are solutions for that. For me, the 2.0 TDI DSG Elegance with leather would be the dream version.

@benny5825 It's called the Rock of Dunamase Castle. It's a ruined fort in Laois. Google it, there's a great history Loads more videos in the can at the moment. The new CMAX and Focus plus an estate Mondeo. Ahead there's an Avant Audi A6, Megane RS and loads more. There's even plans for a Christmas special

I just don't understand the reasoning for 2-wheel drive versions of SUV-shape vehicles like the Yeti, Qashqai and several others. They come with the ground clearance and floorpan protection and all but they can't handle even minor off roading. That combination just gets people into trouble. If it's gotta look like an SUV, make it a true SUV - meaning make it 4x4!

But compare to the rest of Europe, and because of Ireland road tax you find a lot of stupid 1.6 engine here. My wife have a very small hatch 1.6 TDI 110, and you cant overtake without changing gear. My large saloon is a 2L 130bhp and its plenty power. I cant imagine drive 1.6 in an "heavy car" . I am french, and you dont find so much those little engine in large cars.
