Hi. Loss of resolution at the eyepiece has many causes. The only 'detail' that the Astrolux will show on the rings, in ideal seeing conditions is, as I point out in the vid, Cassini's division, which is about 2800 miles wide. And whilst Cassini's division will never be a pushover in a sub 80mm scope, with Saturn at opposition, the rings open, and 140x it should be enough to glimpse the gap ,at least where we can see its full width at the ansae points (ie ring points furthest from disk) KR RJD

I have a Bresser Venus 76/700 Newtonian Reflector, with 3x Barlow lens and a 20mm eyepiece. I am using it with a smartphone holder to capture some planetary shots. Would you suggest using a sensor-based eyepiece for photography with this kind of setup ? Also how to fine tune the azimuth controls ?

hi i see that in the background you also have SKY-WATCHER HERITAGE 130mm DOBSONIAN telescope. if i am not wrong both are entry reflecting telescopes i heard general opinion that Dobsonians are good for beginners,easy to use. In nz sky-watcher 76mm is $150 cheaper. not doubt the Dobsonian is 130mm and will give greater magnification. but 76mm seems to be more versatile. basically i am wondering which one would you recommend, what would be key differences. thanks Paul

@akusanggap Hi and thanks for posting. Well we don't actually sell the Celestron model you refer to but I'd have to say that as the Celestron benefits significantly from an EQ mount that makes it easier to use and much more effective in operation and therefore 'better' but bear in mind it is more money - as you'd expect I think. Thanks for posting. I have a Sky-Watcher D=114 mm it says F = 1000. It is much shorter than yours though but much wider. I was using the Barlow 2X and Wide 25mm lens with it but when I look at saturn it is very small and I can just barely see the rings. Am I doing something wrong? Also I just started this hobby less than a week ago so this is my very first Telescope which I picked up for a measly $60.

hey sir , please what do you think about the Télescope Skywatcher N 130/900 Explorer EQ-2 ?
@randolphpatterson50616 жыл бұрын
You'll get both brighter images (with more detail) and higher magnification, using the same 2 eyepieces & Barlow supplied with the Astrolux in the video. A manual EQ mount requires some serious fiddling to align it with the star Polaris, & leveling it is pretty much an essential task, as well. There's an accessory drive motor available, for tracking the Explorer in right ascension. This means that you can move the scope freely to point at a sky target, lock the adjusters, and then the motor will compensate for the earth's rotation by rotating the scope in the opposite direction, allowing targets to remain in view for much longer periods without needing more adjustments. It won't do anything to make setup any easier, though, and at this price point (US$300), you won't get anything near to a rock-solid mount. To me, an unmotorized EQ mount can be more trouble than it's worth. You usually need to get started setting an EQ scope up well before nightfall. A simple alt-az mount is more like a grab & go affair. There isn't any way to motorize most of the all inexpensive alt-az mounts. Overall, for a quicker, simpler setup, an alt-az is better in most cases, as an EQ can be so frustrating to align before each use that the scope ends up spending most of the summer in the shed.

which one is better this or Celestron Astromaster 76EQ. tq
@arjunkafle95707 жыл бұрын
The better one is that which has high quality optics to deliver clear, high-contrast images. Even though the aperture and the focal length of these two (Celestron and sky-watcher)are the same, this sky watcher is better for you (if you are a beginner telescope user) because the sky-watcher is mounted on an alt-azimuth mount which can be moved up and down, left and right quite easily. The celestron telescope is mounted on a equatorial mount. This type of mount are quite complicated for beginners because these types of mount are designed to track the object through the sky and need to be polar aligned before using. If you are a beginner you'll probably feel frustrated by the equatorial mount telescope (The celestron). Buy the sky watcher.

Hi I have massive issues aligning the finder scope. Do you have any advice?
@jasonlaw5243 жыл бұрын
Did you have any luck, just got one. Might need some help with this myself 😅
@starsnstuff842 Жыл бұрын
The finderscope issued with the Astrolux is a real weak link in what is generally decent setup. The supposedly 24mm objective is non achromatic and is stopped down to about 15mm. Its shocking that Skywatcher lets out such bad piece of equipment. I'm a old hand at handling astronomical gear and even I have difficulty aligning this finder but if done during the daytime on a distant object it can be done (after a bit of swearing)! As bad as the finder is once aligned it does the job I suppose!

Yes,this scope is suitable for short exposure DSLR work with a brand specific T ring for your make of camera. you'll also need a X2 barlow with a T thread,the barlow issued has no thread unfortunately.

when i look into the telescope all i can see is my eye staring back at me,how do i solve this so me and my son can use it
@RocketPlanet6 жыл бұрын
Hi there. The most likely explanation, given that the telescope is new to you, is that you haven't fully uncapped it. You'll need to remove the whole front cap and not just the little one in the centre. Try that and see how you get on. Also, take a few minutes to look at our video called Getting started with your new telescope, kzbin.info?o=U&video_id=2oG73hVHzf0 it'll give you a few hints about how to get going. I hope this helps. You want to set it up for a "shakedown" in the daytime, at first, and find a faraway land object to aim at. Any kind of tall object along the distant horizon will do, such as a lamppost, smokstack, or water tower. Try to get it as close to being dead-centered as is possible. Aim for a small detail on the object. Next, without moving the scope's position, use the adjusters on the finderscope until that distant object is centered in the crosshairs. Now, you'll be able to use the low-power, wider-field finder to target an object, and the object should then appear in the eyepiece. Make sure you have the entire front dust cap removed. Start with the lowest power (the 25mm eyepiece) once you've placed a target in the finder crosshairs, then you can swap out eyepieces & add the Barlow to get greater magnification, once you have the target in the field of view. the higher the magnification, the faster a target in space will sweep across your view, and the tiniest vibrations of the mount & tripod also cause a greater amount of shakiness with higher power. So, trying it out on land objects is easier than attempting to use it for the first time in darkness. A red LED lamp or a flashlight covered with red cellophane or stagelight gel is useful after dark, if you drop something or whatever. The US Army did a bunch of night-vision development & testing during WWII, and determined that red light causes very minimal loss of dark-adapted vision. What else might be the holdup? Avoiding any artificial light is extremely essential. Your eyes will take at least 15-45 minutes to fully adapt to dark conditions, but a single glance at a distant streetlamp or headlight on a car can take it all away in an instant, requiring you to wait in total darkness to let your eyes once again adapt. With so much light pollution encroaching most cities these days, stargazing has become a minor expedition for a lot of people. It's something akin to going on a camping trip, and a lot of owners bring their scopes when to do actually camp out, too. There is an unfortunate side effect to owning & using a reflector, which is practically a total non-issue with a refracting scope: The optics on a reflector go out of adjustment often, and most owners eventually purchase various alignment tools. This is apart from wherever the scope is AIMED, it's more to do with having the two mirrors inside the tube positioned properly, in relation to each other and to the focusing tube. This can be a daunting task fir the novice, so it's a good idea to seek out someone with some experience to help you along until you can learn to align your reflector by yourself. Of course, make sure the open end of the optical tube is pointing toward the target. It's not unheard of for people to mistakenly point them in the opposite direction.
@feboogi7 жыл бұрын
Lower mils more magnification ?
@SanderSmit777 жыл бұрын
Yes, you calculate the magnification by diving the length of the tube by the eyepiece focal length. So 10mm gives you on a 700mm telescope a magnification of 700/10 =70x. The 25mm gives you 700/25=28x. With the 2x Barlow those magnifications become 1400/10=140x and 1400/25=56x. Keep in mind that the maximum usefull magnification is determined by multiplying the size of the mirror by 2, so a 76mm mirror telescope like this won't produce sharp images over 76x2=152x. So anything below 700/152=4.6mm won't be usefull.
@randolphpatterson50616 жыл бұрын
@@SanderSmit77 Good advice! Another way to roughly determine max useful power for a scope of any size is to figure about 50-60 power for each inch of aperture. So, the 76 in the video can handle up to around 180 power, while a 130 might handle up to 300 power. It'll always depend on seeing conditions, and there really aren't many people trying to use much more than about 350-400 power, max, because of unsteadiness in the air. The scope magnifies the unsteadiness, along with the target. Some objects don't beg for total clarity. Also, some objects are best seen at lower magnifications, which allows for a wider field of view.

Hey!I have one question.I recently bought 76mm newtonian reflector and picture that i see is turned upside down!Is this normal?I need answers because im beginner and i enjoy watching the stars!Thanks for answers and sry for disturbing!
@RocketPlanet10 жыл бұрын
Yes that's normal for this type of telescope - it was not designed for terrestrial viewing. You can purchase a special eyepiece that will erect the image but frankly the results are far from ideal. This style of scope is strictly for astronomical observing and the trade-off between a bright image and and erect image is swung 100% in favor of minimum optics and thereby, brightness. Up, down, left and right have little currency value when we look or move out-side of our Earth bound frame of reference. KR RJD
