Nice explanation but I still don't get a thing @3:45 what scenario would that be that the RSL side riser has the cutaway cable disconnected and on the opposite side it is still attached ? Thanks a bunch!

That would happen, and has happened, if your non-RSL side would break, for example upon opening

If there's wear on the locking loop that's on the RSL side and it tears, then the non RSL side would be connected still. That's what the Collin's lanyard is for. So then if the riser with the RSL is disconnected, then it will pull on the cable to release the non RSL riser. But yea, just from wear. I've seen it happen. I always check for wear on the locking loops.

It can happen also if you don’t pull your cutaway handle far enough.
