It's 73BC and Spartacus was recently taken prisoner by the Roman empire. Because of his military background, he was forced to fight in the arenas as a gladiator. In this Mount and Blade 2 Bannerlord series, I'll be playing as Spartacus and recruiting fellow gladiators (Some of you - taken from KZbin comments) in order to fight for our freedom!

I had some issues rendering this one since it's so long! It was done last night but my render kept crashing after 40 - 50 minutes and I had to start over. Finally I turned render speed down a lot and it took 5 hours to render, but without crashing! Sorry for the delay and I hope you enjoy this one!

I'm kinda sad at the end when the game keep crashing I really wanted to see if Spartacus can capture a city and make his own empire but the game is a game and there will be issues but I love this playthrough, can you do a Hannibal-Carthage playthrough sometime.

I also feel the pain when your game starts to crash. I was doing a daily stream last weekend about 20+ hours into the game until the new 1.15 update I tried to play but it crashed before I could stream and corrupted my files.

Post comment: Wow Strat this was AWESOME. Eight hours of total investment, glued to the battle feed, watching my little pawn's success. I relished in watching Rufus drop 0 kills in almost all of the biggest battles lmao. He specialized against smaller groups, cleaning up stragglers, and sniping riders with his Javelins. His greatest achievement came during the final victorious engagement felling 15 men. Rufus of the Equites was spared from injury until the fateful battle of Crash-icus, where he was wounded and taken prisoner.

Yeah for sure, it's a lot more work to do it this way but it's really boring to have to sit through raw recordings. This was 4.5 hours but I used over 16 hours of raw recordings to get it (it's more for a companion only because a lot of grindy stuff like changing companion names, equipping them, picking perks, etc.). I'm glad you're enjoying the campaign!

You were there until the very end :D I actually spent a really long time copying the list of companions and skills, etc. and restarted this campaign, so it will continue with the same crew before the final 2 big fights! I think it would be really cool to do that, but there's no way I would have time :( I barely have enough time to run campaigns like this. Man that last bridge battle with 94 against 484 was some Leonidas kind of choke point abuse hahaha awesome, and at the end you mentioned something that my stepbrother and me have seen on our last Eagle Rising campaigns. The longer we played on the same run, we saw less and less ER troops which were getting replace with the vanilla ones who are stronger and with better gear... So in a way your ending was perfect because it was still mainly ER troops 🔥🦅

Up until about ep. 4, Julius Artorius was on lower end of average kills, not really noticed, which was a little sad. Then he got 4 kills against an Imperial party, maybe the most in that battle, and it was passed right over! 😢 Was nice to see him accepted into the elite Equites in ep. 6, as a veteran of chapter 1, episode 2/3, it was a happy reward.

Cool video dude, mod seems pretty good and I was definitely a fan of Roman themed mods for Warband. Man I really have to get back on the Bannerlord wagon, had to uninstall it due to having very limited HDD space at the moment. Btw do you have a video going over your recommended mods for the base game? I'm mostly interested in QoL and improvements (think Floris mod for Warband if you remember that one and what it set out to do) in gameplay and mechanics rather than TCs at the moment. Thanks for all you do dude, you are one of two channels that are my go-to for Bannerlord related content, I really appreciate it and I wish you all the best in every aspect of your life.

Sup Strat! I'm only 22 min. in so I don't know if you are figuring it out later but in Bannerkings the workshop you don't see aren't notables owned but nobles, so if you want to buy them you need to talk to them. In the settlements window of the encyclopedia you should see wich one have it. And you can refine crude hardwood but not when you have at least 1 normal hardwood. Mod kinda forces you to finnish one or another from what I've seen. Peace Strat, always with the nice videos!

During Spartacus' rebellion the Romans were also fighting the third Mithridatic war and a rebellion in Spain, so initially they sent militias against Spartacus. Which fared poorly and allowed the rebellion to loot armories and local cities as well as recruit from rural provinces and hearty rural slaves as opposed to the less capable household slaves into his movement. Eventually the Roman senate sent consular legions commanded by Lucius Gellius and Gnaeus Cornelius Lentulus Clodianus, who were defeated by Spartacus. A Roman legion of 40,000 men commanded by Marcus Crassus was then sent out, and eventually defeated Spartacus.

This might be a little late and I'm not sure if you figured it out yet but you can use crude hardwood in the smithy. Something with banner kings is wonky but if you have crude hardwood AND normal hardwood, it'll use the hardwood first and then you have to leave the smithy, sell the small stack of hardwood and only have the crude left and it'll take from the crude hardwood. It just isn't coded to accept both for some reason. Hope that helps someone here - tldr: sell normal hardwood and just keep crude and the smithy will use your crude hardwood with zero downside!

the Legionaries were the Hastati, the Principe, and the Triarii. the Hastati were the newer troops that were on the front line and were expected to take the brunt of the fighting. the Principe were the more experienced troops that rotated in once the Hastati wore the enemy a bit, oftentimes delivering the decisive blow. the Triarii were the veterans that were used when things were not going your way and you needed the best you could get. given the experience of the Triarii they tended to help teach the others when out of the fighting to keep things working good. sergeants were in charge of the smallest groups and had the authority to take action on their own, leading men into gaps and repositioning to deal with local threats. modern militaries follow this general way of doing things, but have expanded on it.

Hasta - Spear, hastatii - spearmen (as far as I know, I know this from yt, so.. :D, btw Historia Civilis have a video about the structure in question) So, the Republican army was like the following: Velites - Skirmishers, their main purpose to agitate the enemy and screen the army Equites - Horsemen, but the other meaning is nobleman. They protected the flanks Hastatii - Spearmen, however at that point they didn't really had a spear, only the name carried over. First line in the battle, the least experienced guys after the Velites Principes - First line or first men or best men or something like that. They were the second line, medium experience, but guys in their prime. They changed positions back and forth with the Hastati so they can fight longer. Triarii - Third line, max XP, they usually didn't fight, they were the backup. This is the position a princeps "retired" to. Hard as nails, never break, if all lost, they will murderize the enemy, because they are the _real_ adults. Now, Marius thought this is bullshit, so the new legionaries were created from the Principes as the template. The new roman army was made out of them almost exclusively. There were still some cavalry and some times skirmishers, but they weren't considered part of the army proper and usually supplied by Rome's allies. To my shock, the Third Servile War was after those reforms. With all that, your army sections should be named: Equites, Velites and Principes. Hastatii works as well, but your men are elite fighers. Also their equipement is between a Legionare's and a Triarius's.

Pretty depressing that the crashes stopped this campaign, it was always in the back of my mind wondering how all of this was preforming but it was a very good watch

Hey Strat, i love you videos. Thanks for all the amazing content you produce! I have a question: I was inspired by your Varangian Guard run, so I recently started a companion-only run with up to 50 Dudes. However, giving perks to them after every 2-3 fights was such a grind, and the lower in the companion-ladder i got, the laggier and the more time it took for each perk to be "accepted". I tried setting up an auto-clicker, but this just took forever and sometimes did not work because of the lag. So my question is: How do you deal with giving Perks to all your companions? I takes so much time perking up my 50 guys, can't imagine doing it for 100 or more.

My Character was Eadgar Von Brandenburg, Recruited in a Tavern and known for dressing like Captain America, I weirdly disappeared in that last battle (even though i was in the one before) must have been a bug. Nevertheless it was a great campaign thank you Strat!

How do you set companion limit to 500 ? Do i need to install a mod for it or can i somehow increase it in game file or with cheats ?

Great campaign! The addition of velites skirmishers was very nice, and I would love to see some more antic tactics to the test like some slingers and other light auxiliary troops. I wonder if It would be possible to change the name of the town to use their name from the roman age Tunis -> Carthago, Paris -> Lutece, Marseilles -> Massalia. I would be a great addition to Eagle Rising

carthage did not exist anymore at this point. Tunis features Carthage as a city-district. otherwise, agreed

man seeing you playing the eagle rising mod makes me wish you did a playthrough of rome 2 total war (my fav TW game hands down) bad joke incoming: how do you get your roman legions to start running? why, you just scoot 'em! (i'm sorry) as always, i'm looking forward to seeing these pila become 'rifles' when all of your companions have impale lmao (loving this editing btw it's been really fun for the video formatting and pace, just don't burn yourself out though!)

I dont know if someone had told this before but I will just in case some viewers won't get disappointed after using these mods so I have been using this load order for sometime now and I have came across a problem (a major one) CA_EagleRising and Bannerkings is not compatible if you are doing a companion only run like strat there is no problem you can go on but if you are going to play normal there will be a major problem. Recruitment is bugged (I dont know about other factions but) romans can only buy one type of infantry and cavalry you wont be able to see archers and stuff because it will be bugged. But as I said if you are doing a companion only run you are good

Usually when they happens it means the load order is off. I'll take a look - I didn't pay attention to that because it was companion only, but I recall having this issue when I ran the Harald Hardrada campaign and it was fixed by moving the load order around a bit

did you end up using RMB combat module that overhauls dmg and armor values? I think eagle rising said to disable it but it seems like you were able to manage with it enabled

Romans also used slingers as skirmishers as well, which could also be a light armored unit with high foot speed to harass enemy troops, kind of like you javelin squad.
