Didnt see you control your men much, looks like all you did was the charge command. Horse archers shoot better when holding ground. Put em on a hill, skirmish the enemy. They come in - fall back. Do the follow command, do some circles with your men following to make sure they dont do anything stupid. And dont be afraid to tell them to hold their fire so you can do a full head on cav charge when you see an opening without spearmen. Good thing to do is to tell the men to follow you and circle around their infantry and right through the enemy archers in hold fire mode. They will automatically follow you and swing at whoever they pass. Seems like the main reason you lost a lot of battles was that your men were left to just spread about and fight 1v10s all over the map. Strength in numbers, no matter how few.

i would've make the horse archers stand still and focus their shots most of the time, the new aiming AI is kinda sketchy, specially when mounted (one of the main reason cavalry with javs is useless on the new updates, such as horse raiders and mountain bandits) but overall the challenge was fun! i was thinking of making the same challenge but with the calradia at war mod.

Definitely focus on building up the clan members faster and first, maybe play a female and marry the strongest male (Alery) and have your brother marry the strongest female (Siga) and focus on having baby's and building the clan! I also wouldn't join a kingdom as a vassal until I had a much bigger party at least 15-20.

Instead of going with arrows I’d recommend throwing because at 225 they can go through shields and they one shot strong units later on. Meaning with 28 javelins (max at throwing 225 with 1 weapon) you can get up to 32 family members (soft cap) when they have all tier 6 gear they take 4 fian champion hits to the body at 30 meters range unless charging on horseback. So worst case scenario you’ll usually have 2-3 members go down with 28 • y amount of kills + x amount of melee. On castle sieges this becomes ridiculous with a usual 90-1 kd and even better if you ambush and remove siege gear.

@@taylorg3430 by that point your older family members die to quickly to sustain more due to old age. And the amount of time it take to set up marriages becomes to great to have greater than 32 consistently. You can get a bit more though it’s just not sustainable past that

First off I'd go campaign instead of sandbox. By the time your youngest brother comes of age you'll already have 7 family members with 3 of those being a few of the best bachelorettes in Calradia. All the kids they'll have will save you dozens of hours compared to starting your clan alone. Coincidentally you can make your sister a dedicated smith as she comes of age right around the time you need to be always rich. You can make your brother a backup smith or as I did an engineer as he came of age right around the time I was spam sieging castles.

I JUST started bannerlords a couple days ago for the first time ever (and ever into this hardcore ish style of game) I’m confused on how I should start to build my first empire, how to get significant funding, how to be my own independent faction. And doing that with a lot of tongue talk and less blade bantering. Literally, through marriages and expanding my family to be massive. But I feel like I’m fundamentally doing something wrong.

Hey, sadly the game without mods is not designed to expand your land without force. This sandbox is very much focused on the battle aspects. For your first playthrough I highly recommend you to fight for one of the existing kingdoms, instead of going for your own kingdom. The game can be quite hard at the start and fighting for a existing faction makes it much easier. Strong factions are either Vlandia or one of the split Empires (Northern/Southern). Also for the start try to join a faction who is at war with someone so you can gather a small party and start to raid their settlements. This is the fastest way to earn money at the start.

If you need money in the early game you should start smithing, definitely check the request section. Once you get some experience with smithing just spam making javelins. The top tier smithed javelins can go for 20ish to almost 50k gold each when you sell them, depending on your trade/smithing levels.

The AI don't really know how to use glaives or really any polearms in this half baked game. A lot of weapon classes are just useless on them. Its why they weren't getting any kills even again low tier troops. Just give em that "narrow fuller" sword and a good sheild and they wreck house.

​​@@WindsOfficial not really, Companion wages are pretty ridiculous somewhere in between 20 and 40 on average, and you have to pay thousands of denars to equip them with the equipment you want. Meanwhile the khuzait khan's guard is not even 1000 denars to upgrade with a 16 denars wage and its OP enough that it can win fights outnumbered 1 to 10, now THAT...is unfair😂.

@@GetAssista 20 high level companion's is already over 800 denars wage... 😂 At 100 companions you'd have a ridiculous 4.000 denar army, meanwhile 100 tier 6 troops would be just 1200. at some point you just can't afford to hire and equip them anymore and even 100 of them would probably struggle against any army with over 300 troops.

Best is Battania, followed by Emperial. Battania for +1 militia production and fast travel through forests and empire for most towns are emperial towns less loyalty penalty and with perks you can reduce troops wages to nearly nothing. But money is no problem thanks to smithing so battania is the best.

You can use bandit lairs, steppe bandits especially. Let your guys kill stuff while you protect them with shield and parries

Is this a complete the main compaign run as your own kingdom with only companions? I mean if you join any faction you can just join the winning faction to the end. Win the trading way have trade skill over 300 and just win eventually that way. The main bannerlord quest has a time limit on it which makes any challenge a real challenge. IMO all others are just a comfy run.

Bet in tournaments, join the aserai for better terrain, you forgot to lvl up ur armor too. Smith the longest polearm, work on getting babies by putting your wife in ur party, ad when you get released from being a prisoner, you have to go into inventory and give away ur horses, to decrease the herd.

I've done this run before. I've found Crossbow with spear and shield works best for keeping companions alove and makes it easier for sieges too. Fun video though

Horse archer AI is notoriously bad in bannelord. Unfortunately, you can't really do a companions challenge with horse archers.

Probably the mistake you did was just to charge them, they still shoot arrows when they follow you, so keep your distance and take out Cav first. Cav is coming towards you anyways, so you need to seperate them from Inf as much as possible. 🤷‍♂

In forgotten realms mod. I can solo whole armies. Theres a bomb item in the game. Max out area of effect and you can kill dozens in one throw. These items have a +50 throwing stst boost. Which is bugged and keeps goving you plus 50 throwing skill points. Im throwing is at 2500. Doing thousands of damage to troops. Its broken as Fck. So i stopped using it for awhile. Started using it again once i was promoted to leader of the empire i was in. Im now fighting kingdoms with 150000 troops. Tons of 500 to 1000 man armies. My party sise is 440 troops. Im a armie all by myself.

Lol ive done this but with mods, I had 25 companions all decked out, talking 10s of millions of gold in armour and weapons and horses lol. Playing on iron Man with death enabled. We'd just joins armies as mercenaries and I swear to you 90% of the play time is spending perks, gearing up 25 guys as you progress and reforming your soldiers after getting clapped and being a prisoner for a week lol. Great fun but a lot of messing around tedium type stuff
