There is so much information in her story that they did not teach in nursing school. Her love of animals. The lamps are an integral part of the graduation ceremony. Why nurses week is celebrated in May. Thank you for all I didn't know about her.

My school was actually her beautiful home where she nursed the soldiers. There was a stone bench under an oak tree that she loved to sit at, over the years there have been hundreds of sightings from the boarding students who would see her ghost at night walking down the gravel path underneath their bedroom windows to go sit at the bench.

I live near Her grave monument but it’s a very small monument in a tiny churches yard & very plain & simple thing with F N on it. Given Her immense works one wld think it wld be bigger but She was a simple soul who did not want fuss. She is buried with her parents I think.

I think it’s important to note that she was very racist. Especially to First Nations folk on Turtle Island / North America (ex. she was an influential person that advocated for the residential “schools” and thought the deaths caused by these places were worth it to assimilate them into Britain’s culture). Some of Florence Nightengale’s work was helpful yes, but we mustn’t forget the terrible harm she caused too.
