Alois was on the brink of death anyway. Recall that Ciel stabbed him with a sword. He was bleeding to death when Claude arrived. It was too late to save him anyway, and the contract ended when he died. Impatient bastard might've let the kid die naturally, but was sort of accidentally merciful when he killed him quickly, ending his suffering.
