This video lesson introduces the slot antenna, which consists of a rectangular slot in an otherwise planar conductor. Slot antennas have a bandwidth that may be increased by increasing the width of the slot, and produce an approximately dipole-like radiation pattern with linear polarization. This course was created for Ansys Innovation Courses by Dr. Kathryn Leigh Smith, assistant professor, UNC-Charlotte, in partnership with Ansys.

This is a really well produced series, excellently presented. I very much like the pauses which give you time to think without keep hitting the pause button.

We use the nearly equivalent skeleton slot antenna for HF 1.8-7MHz, mounted with all four corners about 1/4y above the ground. This is a very quiet and warm sounding antenna, missing a lot of the 'crashiness' of the dipole - we've never been able to explain this, but your magnetic field diagram hints at some differences. I wonder if you had an opinion on this?

needlessly confusing. It's just a folded dipole fed on the long plane rather than center, don't make it more confusing.
