Not important, but as a neat fun fact, a group of scorpions is called a cyclone. Scorpions are fiercely loyal to their cyclone, and when a member of their group is attacked or threatened, it secretes a pheremone that signals all other members of the cyclone come to their aid and attack whatever it is that's attacking or threatening them, and they don't stop attacking until the threat is dead.

Cats don't mutate or whatever because they are PURRfect! One complaint I have about giant insects and scorpions is that they are impossible. Earth's gravity would work against them. Without a skeleton anything that is large as what is shown in Fallout would collapse in on itself or be very limited in mobility. Even natural evolution would not permit such growth because Earth's gravity would work against the insects. That is why Chazadors are more believable as a giant insect. They were expermented on and I believe shot up with FEV. This let the creature evolve quickly and to the point that it won't be affected by Earth's gravity.
@StacieMMeier7 ай бұрын
Not true, Insects were once very large on Earth. And some ants that were tiny during the Dinosaurs are bigger (You know them today as Carpenter Ants). We dont know why insects got smaller over era's. Some say gravity played a part, but gravity hasnt changed much on Earth. Climates, is one, that some claim has caused it. But climates change on Earth all the time over period's in Earth's history. Oxygen levels, Oxygen levels change on Earth all the time. IN the time before Dinosaurs it was very high, we know this because Earth has a natural oxygen level buffer, it is called fire. Great fires were taking place all the time and still does. Only Human's now made it worse by stopping many. But, higher oxygen levels would have allowed for much larger creatures. While the debate continue, many flying insects were the size of birds and even much larger at one time. Why this happen is debated and many scientists disagree on the subject. But gravity wouldnt stop them from getting larger, history and fossil records show this. Remember also, that insects that didnt fly also were large at one time... EDIT: One other theory I forgot why Insects got much smaller. Birds. Birds didnt exist in the period of the very large flying insects. But birds (Those that came from Dinosaurs did exist up to the point of the meteor hit that helped destroy the Dinosaurs. By this time Mammals and Birds were competing with few surviving Dinosaurs (They were going extinct before the meteor, it just helped make it faster) and they were faster and some of both were able to fly (Both birds and some limited mammals), I always thought that because of this insects were forced to be faster and smaller to survive. However, birds are limtied in fallout universe and thus some of the insects wouldnt need this anymore. So, they got much bigger again. But it is theory, like the rest, nobody is certain why they became smaller.
@user-dq9pq8uv4e7 ай бұрын
Chad, you make a really good point. I'm gonna include an exclusion to what you're talking about tho. Which is the roaches. They do not have a hardened shell. It's rather pliable, and flexes, gives, and flattens out allowing them to get into some extremely small spaces if they decide to crawl into such a space. Off topic, but a very, very sick thing about roaches is that it takes them 2 weeks or more to starve. And if you cut the head off of one, far enough down the body, it will stay alive, until it starves. 🤢
@chadharger93237 ай бұрын
@@user-dq9pq8uv4e Now I got an idea for something that may be worse than a centaur or Master. A bunch of radroaches grouped together and gassed with with undiluted FEV. Mutant sized in height(getting around the gravity problem) with a whole bunch of radroach heads all over its body. Normally it crawls along the ground like a regular roach. But if all the heads are destroyed it can stand up meaning round two. After all the heads are destroyed the body moves on its own and keeps walking against the first obstacle it reaches like a wall. Think it can be put out of its misery? Nope! This is FEV after all plus the 'roaches can survive anything' trope. The body is unkillable by any FO weapons. The body will continue for a couple of weeks before it finally shuts down and dies.

I think the real issue is lower oxygen levels in the atmosphere. Massive insects could exist but their respiratory systems are so crappy that they need a much higher oxygen concentration to survive. That's just the major limitation with having an exoskeleton and lacking a true circulatory system. Humongous lobsters and clams exist.
@codycarabotta56216 ай бұрын
Im not great with birds and stuff either, but Crows and Ravens are two different birds. Sometimes thought to be the same bird but with different names. If I remember Crows are a bit bigger than Ravens, among some other distinctions. Both are highly intelligent, and vocalize with similar but still slightly different sounds. The devs may (likely) have intentionally named them Ravens and Crows, and I cant help but think perhaps all Crows in Fallout 4 and maybe as a whole are just synth Watchers but thats just speculation in my head. Ravens are interesting because if they are natural birds, its curious how they did not seem to mutate much, whereas the Crow which may all be synthetic creations often show signs of mutation and such similar to the Radgulls. Its very interesting.

I think the game designers just got lazy. Its been 200 years before the war yet everything looks like the first litters after a radiation event. I'm assuming winter quit existing in the fallout games because most of those animals would be easily killed off by low temperatures. Even the opossums wouldn't last long since the surface area of their bodies just increased drastically while their mass barely did. If they're going to have mutations, it should be a random thing. I'm sure AI will make that much easier by making it possible to make hundreds of different models of the same base creature easily instead of just having 1 model for each animal. UV radiation would kill off most of those animals. Fur and feathers don't just exist for looks or to retain body heat. Not only all that, but most of the animals would be in rural areas that wouldn't get nuked so it makes no sense that they'd mutate. People need to understand at least a basic level of biology before working for game companies since this just looks dumb.
