One of my favorite things about BLI is their sounds are actually synced to the drivers with 4 beats per revolution, probably using a cam. As a steam guy that’s a detail I always catch. Beyond that, both of my BLI steamers are well-detailed, well running engines.

Really nice detail. Hard to believe it's an N scale unit with the sound and smoke. Nice they used a drawbar between the loco and tender. I wish my HO steamers had that. One reason I have both scales, as N just keeps getting better all the time with products. Thanks!

Hi Jimmy. Such a beautiful locomotive. The white accent on the wheels really is a special touch. I was so impressed by it that I had to have one, and so I now possess my own BLI Reading T1 #2100. As long as I was splurging, I also added a Union Pacific Big Boy #4014, which I have been coveting for some time. My motto has always been: "Why do when you can overdo?" I wish I had come upon your site when first starting out. It would have saved me a lot of time, trouble, and money. I truly made a mess of things and now must clean up that mess and try to start over. My story is a tale of doing everything wrong from the start and continuing down that road in blissful ignorance. It's a tale I would like to share with you but not in this format. It's a tale of how to do everything wrong. In any event, I hope to enjoy my two new locomotives. Apologies for being long-winded.

Beautiful loco. The brand Seuthe sells smoke generators for N-scale specifically. A friend of mine has connected it without problems to a DCC decoder in some of his steam engines, but of course also possible for DC.

This is really cool! Question: with all the steam you're adding to your roster, will you have any turning facilities [turntable/wye] on your new layout? I'd love to see how you tackle those from the power/electronics perspective if you do!

The mad lads at BLI managing to get a smoke unit working in their N scale lineup of steam locomotives (Big Boy, T1 Northern) is quite impressive. Makes me wonder if they can do a smoke unit version of the Southern Pacific GS-4 Daylight, I'd pay a decent amount of money for it as long as it's reliable.

That's very cool! I struggle with the prices these days. I've settled on 1 good quality steam loco as my feature train, I'm just not sure which yet. The T1 makes a compelling argument for itself.

I got mine a few months ago. I got 2102 because it runs at the RBMN with former GM&N 425. 2102 also pulled iron horse rambles along with 2100, 2101, and 2124.

Thats one cool locomotive! Being an N scaler myself and a New York Central fan, In the future you should check out Bachmann's n scale DCC sound j3a Hudson. I have one myself and it is a great model and great performer! Keep up the great videos!

BLI is probably going to beat them to it. They recently announced 6 n scale steamers they've been working on and the AC4 and 5s are amongst them.

Arnold years ago made several N scale steam locomotives with smoke including the USRA heavy Pacific and a German 2-8-2 that I know of, so the T1 might be the smallest currently available N scale locomotive with smoke but not the smallest ever produced.

Nice,.. just received the 2101 standard version. Any additional thoughts on the smoke unit? I've seen some reports the smoke unit is deforming the shell from excessive heat on some of the bli models.

Help I am attempting to build your Klondyke single double crossover module using 1X N scale searchlight block signal model train bi-color LEDs Head R/G #s22. You stated there were 8 wires on these units. The ones I received only had 5 wires. Did I buy the wrong lights? Thanks for all your great work.

How long does the smoke last when you run it on your layout? Approximately how long of a time.

So BLI did something smart with their smoke units. The smoke runs for a certain amount of time which is adjustable by a CV. The default is 1 minute. I have gotten anywhere from 4 to 8 1-minute runs of smoke.

I believe they swapped them out for much larger ones during the rebuilding process

They pretty much used the boilers from the 2-8-0s and extended them everything else was built new for the T1s
