i think the main factor is that emu "owned" most of the map quite early. then he got a major win in the big vill war. after that, he contimued to be far ahead

The castle was the wrong play. He should have build a stable for knights, which would have countered the mangonels and could have dealt with the towers as well.

@@nathangamble125 They came later, so Emu would probably have allready lost both the towers and the mangonels. Mastyjames would not have sacrificed as many villagers to build the stable and not have spent as many resources as for the castle, leaving more room for units. Also, he could have build the stable while on his way to castle age and thereby get to knights much faster. Once the monks came out, he could easily have switched to scouts or kill the monks with archers. It's not a guaranteed win, but I think it would have been much more promising than the castle, which has a much diminished usefulness with those halved range settings.
