This was a great episode! Seeing Aemond see the other dragons & turn around to flee was so satisfying. 😊 Also, in the book of Fire & Blood, which is a companion novel to HOTD. Their mother’s name Marilda and was not a Targaryen but was known for her Valyrian descent. Addam & Alyn are considered “Dragonseed”. Which means they have the potential to bond with Dragons because they’re descendants of Valyrian Dragonlords. Valyrians weren’t typically dragon riders as they were Salt& Sea, however, some were capable. As always an incredible reaction! Love it. 🥰 one more thing, King Jaehaerys Targaryen rode Vermithor first & Queen Alysanne Targaryen rode Silverwing first.

That's awesome! So some Velaryons could potentially be dragon riders because of their Valyrian ascend. Interesting! Also, that last scene was perfect. Aemond had to give up the fight and it was everything we wanted to see. Thank you for commenting! 💖🥰

The Velaryon's are from Old Valyria, as is Targaryen. So all Valyrian families have the silver hair and violet eyes. But the Velaryon family aren't dragonriders. Corlys said this to Daemon in S1, ep2 when he asked Daemon about joining him in the Stepstones. He said 'unlike the Targaryens, we weren't dragonlords'.

Right! So it must come from Addam's mom, right?

Vermithor was the mount of the Old King Jaehaerys, and Silverwing belonged to Queen Alysanne. Caraxes, the Blood Wyrm, was first ridden by Prince Aemon Targaryen, and Meleys, called the Red Queen, was a she-dragon ridden by Princess Alyssa Targaryen. The mighty Vhagar, queen of all dragons, was ridden by legendary and dangerous warriors like Queen Visenya, Baelon the Brave, Princess Laena Velaryon, and now Prince Aemond Targaryen. Dreamfyre, the true mother of Daenerys' dragons, was first ridden by Rhaena Targaryen and is now ridden by Queen Helaena. Syrax was first ridden by Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen when she was just seven years old. All of Rhaenyra’s sons’ dragons are cradle dragons, bonded to their riders as hatchlings, making them their first riders Queen Alicent never placed dragon eggs in her children’s cradles, so all of them had to go and claim their dragons. King Aegon Targaryen rides Sunfyre the Golden, a true beast for his young age & has the best story among all dragons in this story. Prince Daeron the Daring bonded with his dragon, Tessarion, the Blue Queen, at the age of six. And Princess baela bonded with her cradle hatchling moondancer. Other than these dragons there are three wild dragons as well...

That's super cool! Thank you for explaining all of it. We thought Alicent would have continued the tradition with the eggs, but if you think about it, it's more strategic if they claimed more experienced dragons like they did.

The reason Jace wanted highborn rider is because their targ blood is small from all the marriages from houses that they can only bond with a dragon but cant claim the throne. These new ones got better claims than him, and a bigger dragons too. Hugh being a cousin of Vis and Daemon and Ulf being their half brother. And their hair being silvee adds a lil something too.

Ohhh that's interesting! Jace will have to work hard to gain their respect and loyalty then, because what's done is done.

In the texts about the relationship between dragons and riders there are quite a few people that think their mental bond is almost like another sense, so there's a lot of speculation around it. Some viewers like to see the similarities in the state of mind, for instance, with both Seasmoke and Addam seeking to take their fates into their own hands, and Hugh and Vermithor being just fed up to the brink and ready to fuck shit up. I don't think I've seen anything about Silverwing and Ulf though. And it could be just people painting a target around the arrows anyway, but it's a fun notion to have.

Silverwing always struck me at gentle and one of the more lazy & playful dragons. I like to think that they pick up some personality traits from their original riders and Alyssane was a strong woman but also very gentle and playful herself. I saw some people speculating about Ulf smelling like a baby dragon from stepping in the clutch of eggs, and knowing how many kids Alyssane had it speaks a bit to her maternal side too which I thought was a cute idea.

Now we want to have dragons 😅 We'll never know why Silverwing liked Ulf, but that wouldn't have worked on Vermithor. So we just know there isn't a specific way of connection, it's very personal for each dragon and we love that ❣️

Vermithor was originally the old King Jaehaerys' mount (the old king from the beginning of episode 1, who held the great council). Silverwing was ridden by his Queen, Alyssane (who was the best queen in history imo). There are some extra wild dragons that I think we won't see in the future, just because they are never tamed and very shy so I'm sure the show will cut them. Grey Ghost and the Cannibal. Grey Ghost is almost never seen, looks a lot like Seasmoke, eats only fish. The Cannibal lives up to its namesake, it's supposedly pitch black in colouring and likes to hide and feed on young hatchlings in the dragonmont. Both of them are so old that nobody actually knows when they were even born! The cannibal might even be as old as Belarion the black dread, or older, who knows.

Ohhh the wild ones sound so interesting, specially the Cannibal. What a shame we won't see them 😭

@@NerdishReact there's always a chance, so I hope I didn't accidentally do a spoiler, but it would only be a bit of a cameo if they did. I would honestly love to see both of them!!
