Besides temperature yolink devices are great for outdoor automations. Only ones that I found to reliably work from inside chest freezer. Hubs are inexpensive and so are the smart button fobs. They are super useful for smart button automations with alexa. Much cheaper than flic or other smart buttons. The flex fob is one of my favorite devices. Looking forward to the new matter yo link hub. But it works so well with alexa and now more and more with google does not affect me too much.

I love Yolink too man. Todd, I added a 120 volt plug to my washer and stop it when I have an alarm to stop the pumping of the water. And my light strips go Red to be a visual alarm in case I wasn’t there when the alarm occurred. Thanks for you’re very good content and I adore RVing so I like that part too.

I want my phone to announce the alerts out loud. I am out in my shop or in the yard or in the bathroom I can't here the speaker hub talk. Could not get the app to make audible alerts and I do not use google or Alexa. Fixed that by installing an app called voice notify. Now all the yolink alerts get read out loud. The app is vary configurable so I can allow only the yolink app alerts to to read. It can also be set to ignore the night time "do not disturb" so it can announce any sensor I want, motion sensor in the driveway or any exterior door or window or garage door sensor day or night so it can also be a security system that uses the phone to alert me.

All of these systems are network based and usually require a connection to the internet consistently how are you guys able to do this on a mobile basis? At home I have high speed Xfinity. But I also have two Xfinity cell phones both with unlimited data plans, would I be able to use one of them as a permanent hotspot/house phone?

Hotspots are too annoying and they heat-up you phone. I would just buy a cheap cellular router to install. I purchased a more expensive cellular router (Mofi-Router), but my Wife and I work and use lots of data. Every time we get to a campground or destination and our router connects...the Yolink router and devices re-connect AUTOMATICALLY!

Todd, do I really need the hub so that Alexa can speak the temperature to me ???

Yes. All the yolink devices are controlled by the Yolink skill through Alexa. You will need 1 yolink hub, then you can pair as many yolink devices as you want and set Alexa routines for many of the devices.

OK, I have a camper van outside in my driveway. Out of range of WiFi or zigbee. I have a battery heater setup for my lithium batteries. I have a temperature relay setup that turns the heater on when a certain low temp is reached. I would like to receive a notification when this heater is energized by the temp relay. I could modify a door sensor reed switch I suppose that when the relay energizes the battery heater (negative side of circuit from NO > closed), the door sensor interprets this as the magnet acting upon the reed switch. Can you think of any other way to utilize the temp relay to activate some sort of alert letting me know that the battery warmer is energized? TIA

Stop using the relay and start using a yolink smart outlet to turn on the heater. It will notify you when the heater is turned on. Boom, there you go. I am actually going to do the exact same thing on my 2016 Ram 2500. I am going to put the smart outlet in the garage where the extension cord plugs in and the temperature sensor out in the truck. I asked yolink via their website tech support form to make a 12V battery voltage sensor so I can turn on a battery tender but only if needed.
