Hey Ron, I think you've got a great channel and I've followed and learned a lot over the years. Thank You, for your outstanding work in every respect!!! I've got a lot of experience with stolen and recovered trailers. More often than not,.. not the average thief is your guy. This is a notification system and doesn't at all serve as a deterrent which is what you need. I have been involved in the investigation of many contractor trailer thefts with heavy man power resources. Very difficult to solve and more importantly to recover a livelihood's tools. These trailer thefts are usually well planned because of the resources THEY need. (tow vehicle, strip spot, and a carry vehicle for the haul) These trailers are almost all stripped clean in short order. This device is cutting edge smart,... what also works well is a pair of contact switches for the doors, a level trip for a tipped hitch (set the level pitch very low so if its quietly tipped up to hitch up, (with the siren set and pointed directly at the hitch coupling).. it explodes with noise, a good battery, and one $100 loud ass siren. This is great tech, but serious noise and attention stops almost every thief. They take off before the can get to and shut down a high decibel screaming alarm. They operate very quietly and the serious explosive noise blows them out and they bolt immediately. You could set the reset for 60 seconds no problem because they're gone. They'll need hearing aids if they even attempt my own rolling "tool box" This has been proven over long term experience with thieves and losses. The thieves themselves have reported to me that noise ends the game immediately!!! Noise=Caught=Jail... And that's a "BINGO" as they say. Thanks again Ron!!!! YOUR a Number One contractor channel contributor!

FYI, the discount codes are for the items in the Ron Paulk category. www.trailer-alarms.com/Ron-Paulk_c_23.html Yes, there is a $20 per month fee to use the DeWalt system. No monthly fee for the ProTec system. Also, in order to get the $50 discount on the DeWalt system, you must purchase both the base unit and the motion sensor. Also, these discounts are only through the end of 2017.

Great video Ron, I've always wondered if it would be worth purchasing the Dewalt alarm. I can't wait to see it in action and getting a review from you after that. Love the idea that it's portable and can be used to protect other equipment. Have a great day.Thank you

I have two questions about the trailer and you almost answered one of them in this video so I'll ask them here... 1. How did you wire up the batteries that you mentioned you would be using with this trailer and what are their purpose? 2. I live in a climate that gets below freezing in the winter. Do you have any type of heat? If not, what is your remedy for keeping glues and finishes from the cold weather? Thanks for the help! I've got a blank canvas now, just looking to fill it up!

That's nice of Lyal to discount his alarms all the way down to what Dewalt regularly sells them for. Way to go Lyal!

Darrell, I am discounting the alarm and a motion sensor. DeWalt and I normally sell this pair for $349. I am offering a $50 discount, and discounted freight. You get this discount when you enter the discount code at checkout. Lyle

I stand humbly corrected! I did look at the Dewalt site and at Lyall's before I posted, but I did not notice that the discount is applied at check out, I (incorrectly) assumed that the price shown was the discounted price since it did reference Ron Paulk on the page. Please accept my apology for not investigating more fully! On another note, I just ordered a new trailer to replace the one I have and am very much interested in an alarm system. My current trailer has a GPS tracker, but I want it to me more secure. How well is the DeWalt alarm going to work inside an all metal trailer?
@traileralarms
@traileralarms 7 жыл бұрын
Darrell Gibson Generally a good test is if your cell phone works in the trailer, so will the DeWalt. It uses assisted GPS, which means if the unit does not have line of sight to the sky for satellites then it uses cell phone towers to triangulate its location. It uses the Verizon network. Also, there are 3rd party antennas that can help the signal if in an area where Verizon network doesn't cover as well. These don't always fix low covered areas, FYI. Lyle

Ron Paulks Channel has turned into a new infomercial every new video. Either for fast cap, or something else. I'm not knocking the guy, hes very talented and i've learned a lot, more so in the earlier videos, though. I guess I would take the free swag as well, but i sure would appreciate more actual wood working and explaining while hes doing the work, rather than summaries and advertisements.

PeteBillings yeah Ron is reviewing new stuff but if it's value add to his viewers (and I think it is) then there's no pious high road I care about if he gets to keep the stuff he reviews.

Hi Ron, My technical concerns are if the Dewalt system is mounted inside the closed all-aluminum trailer, it will be too shielded to receive GPS satellite signals and too shielded to transmit it's alarm data out to a cellular network. If you have a non-metallic vent in the ceiling, mount it as close below the opening as possible. Another idea is to mount it in a NEMA box outside the trailer, perhaps on the tounge or ladder racks. Thanks for sharing your ideas and work, Rick

Rick Maudlin This is from the MobileLock website. The DS600 provides the most accurate aGPS (cellular assisted GPS) location capability, even in impaired environments such as in a building, connex box, trailer, garage, vehicle and within closed packages -all without the use of external antennas. When you request a locate from a MOBILELOCK it turns on its GPS antenna and then transmits the raw data it receives to one of several PDE's (Positioning Determining Entity) within the Cellular network. This allows MOBILELOCK to work where other GPS devices fail.

@@traileralarms I put mine in the box on the front of my dump trailer and the GPS wouldn't locate it. I called Dewalt and they said it couldn't be inside a closed in area.

I was shocked when I viewed your video I had two of these that I had purchased back in 2006 from Dewalt and the company providing the service just disappeared and my units were rendered useless. I eventually pitched them both in the trash las year but I have to admit they were awesome when operational, I placed one in my 12' custom trailer and the other under my cutting table when the job demanded allot of my equipment already set up on larger projects though I did chain up everything but that does not help at all deterring theft. I have over 43 years in finish carpentry, cabinetry and stairs and it takes allot of tools as you know to do the right job, security is cheap but seems like most contractors wait until they arrive back at their site only to find everything gone and without tool insurance I know I was one of them a long time ago! FYI, I had just had a $1,500.00 custom system with GPS installed in my work van with a state of the art system to many items to go into along with front and rear and side cameras no I am not paranoid but well prepared because at my age I cannot afford another loss. I was going to have a high end alarm system installed in my trailer now knowing thanks to you and your channel that Dewalt mobile lock system is back up and running I am definately going to invest in this now newly updated system with bluetooth! Thank You!

I was robbed about a month ago and lost over $5k in tools. An alarm system is a must, I was naive about security, and that cost way more than an alarm. The Dewalt comes with a GPS too so of the whole trailer you can recover it. If you store tools in your trailer, then don't be naive like I was.

Hey, I'm In Australia, but I think the same kinds of products will be available in the US too. i searched 3G GPS alarm in ebay and just about every item I looked at did what the dewalt item does. Obviously there are differences among each product, but it wouldn't take long to identify the right one for your needs. Siren can easily be rigged up to the unit through the engine disconnect options most of these trackers have. Bluetooth sensors seem a bit gimmicky, esp when you consider the price, battery use, and that a lot of these other systems have those options built in. This is even more true when you consider the use Ron has described and that he wont even use the siren (smart imo). I have a small tracker in my motorcycle and have recovered it once already when it was stolen, within an hour too. These systems don't have to be complicated to be effective.
