This looks like a nice well executed board and a ++ replacement to those expensive /unobtainium original boards. It would be great if more games could be written or moved on to this board ....Good one thanks for the Video Ollie

yeah that's his plan. It'll run a lot of the sega system x and the Hang-on / Space harrier hardware too with a special adaptor. Since it has to fit all versions of each cabs it takes a while . ultimately I think he hinted at working on similar solution for other games like possibly Chase HQ etc... but I'm thinking that's way down the line. tt's a lot of work for one guy :)

They should do one for Sega model 1 2 and 3 games

A couple years ago I had a PowerDrift and a HangOn both with bad PCB boards so I did similar to you and rewired them with an APAC and put a Linux MAME PC inside them. I wish this SmartyPi had been around then, woulda saved me loads of time, and I wouldn’t have had to butcher the harnesses like I did. Oh well, the setup I did works well and plays tons of driving games. But this is a nice plug and play option!!

Great video. My PCB has been off to Mark at the Retro Clinic twice over the years. It’s only a matter of time before the custom sound chip dies. I’m definitely interested in getting one of these when they go on sale.

My Super Monaco GP board has died, Mark doesn't fix them any more :( Hopefully they do SMGP one day (mines the site down Airdrive version)

QUESTION: I use the extra sound port on the original Outrun PCB to run a Sub Woofer. Is that port on this board as well?

Looks like plug and play. Looking forward to an update on availability soon. Of course if you need someone to test this set up on the other side of the pond I would be more than happy to help. LOL.

Really nice =O Fantastic plug and play solution! Obviously it would better in an FPGA. but I love the features of this! Wow - that said, I love the features of CannonBall =O
@8bitmanshed2 жыл бұрын
yeah it's a great solution for this. To be fair I'm not sure FPGA would address anything more that what's already been done for mame based emulation. I love that this is off the shelf easy to source parts, so you'd need a DE10 based MiSTer type setup of an equivalent modular "easy to put together" board. I don't think there's a viable fpga repro of the hardware available yet anyway ...Prob would make it prohibitively expensive too .

What a great thing for the arcade community! You tell me how the gameplay is versus the original PCB? Are there some notable differences?
