I've often referred Scramble to Defender. Even though these 2 video games have certain differences.

Cool video. The TF4060 is a nice card. I just ordered one from Allen for a brand new 4000T motherboard. I think Chucky hinted at a use for the Pi other than flashing the board? The new ReAmiga boards are lovely. Keep up the awesome videos.

Brilliant!!! =D Might be worth trying to hack a PC case, or get one of those new "Paula / Alice" type cases from the guy on Amibay that builds them?

I remember playing this one when it came with the fair that used to visit our town, so I never got a lots of chances to play it, but I remember it being fun. I've seen you fix up way worse stuff than this one, but good luck, I'm looking forward to seeing it's progress.

A shame you're a world away, I just did my Op Wolf and I have a lot of extra parts that would go a long way on yours. Some tips on these: -IDK if the UK/Irish version has the RF filter board that the US version does, but if it does, you can guarantee it'll have cold solder joints. -Sound boards on these have tantalums that go out, sprinkled everywhere. Safe yourself the headache, and replace them all. Same with the ribbon cables. -Sound board is a hungry hippo for 12V, make sure it has a real high current supply for itself, and that its voltage is set slightly high, as the board really doesn't like being even slightly below 12V. -AUX PSU: just replace this thing with a modern switch-mode supply. The design is very poor, and the transformers that feed it tend to burn up. Not many people know the -12V from the AUX being out is the main reason the guns stop working. -Don't swap the gun optos out until you're sure the +12V/-12V is working. Also make sure the gun barrel is on, the lens is facing the right way, and the lens, mirror, and tube are clean. -If you take the opto out, make sure it goes back in with the rubber bushings. The shaker motor will break the PCB if you don't. -The gun motor is hungry for 12V. It can droop the 12V rail on the cabinet when it's running full blast. You can mitigate by having a dedicated 12V for the audio board like they did in the US cabs (they called it 13V) and you can also help it by making sure the gearbox is completely stripped of old grease and re-lubricated per the manual. -When servicing the gun mount, check the rubber bushings are intact so players can't smash the front glass with the gun barrel, and the bronze bushings in the base are set flush with the top plate, as they can get smashed down with use.

ah that's great info thanks a lot for all that. I'll first focus on the wood work anyway as it's the most urgent , and then clean up the psu area and see what I can salvage and clean. Good to know about voltages there it'll save me some time figuring things out .

Know what it's like for those longer drives. Done a Belfast to Limerick and back the same day to pick up a few pieces. At least got a tour around the Level Up arcade while there which was awesome. Bit of a sorry state that, but hopefully you'll get it up and running at some point. Looking forward to it.

That is a very nice board! SuperDMAC's are hard to find and $$$$ but hopefully ReSDMAC will fixt that within the next year. Ambers are even more scarce it seems. We also need ReAmber chips. You gotta replace those horrid brown sockets with black sockets to match the PCB.

In the first 30 seconds I switched between "this guy sounds Irish" and "this guy sounds French" at least 5 times. Love the X68000! Wanted to pick one up on a trip to Tokyo a couple of years ago, before realising how expensive (and heavy) it would be.

Ohh hey, I see that "Fun Expo" sticker. I know *exactly* where that came from. That came from Atari Expo in The Square, Tallaght. The exact same place as my most recent Sega Club Kart Prize pickup running the same hardware. I'm still watching the video so not sure if you've found the second Naomi board that's actually in there that acts as the hopper control system, but can actually be converted back into a Naomi easily enough by taking it apart and removing the hopper software board. It may also need a firmware eeprom replacement too, not sure yet.

had to look at the video again to double check even though the cab's right here :D :D completely missed that sicker on the left hand side of the cab alright. cool to know the origin. is there info online on that expo by any chance ?

I have this keyboard and a MIDI board... haven't attempted it yet for exactly the reasons you said - getting information is not easy. The board I have is a lot more compact and was prebuilt, but looks very much the same regarding layout for ins and outs. I was still going to make my MIDI solution an external solution as I'd like to be able to wire it in to a couple of other Casio and Yamaha synths I have with no MIDI functionality. Just need to find the right type of cable with enough wires. I have seen a few mods for the filter and I quite like the one you've used. Makes an another nice sounding little mono synth even more interesting. I have seen people basically make their version 1 of the CS01 filter behave more like the version 2 board too.
@8bitmanshed
@8bitmanshed Ай бұрын
yeah I did think about making an external mod I could just plug in this and other synths but it would require hacking the case for an external connector on all of them and that put me off. Also, you need to consider resell value. Should you want to sell this synth you'd need to provide the midi mod with it or it'll lower the value ... and then you won't have the midi mod for your other synths . prob best to do the mod internally on each

Why don't you make an adapter like this for 27C64 memories, they are more common on the market... that is, PROM/EPROM to 27C64, is there any technical impediment to this?

Nice work! I've been in the lookout for a Microkorg at a desirable price for ages without luck. Even ones with serious wear and tear sell for over 250€. Interesting that at least here in Sweden the Microkorg XL's sell at a lower price in the second hand market, as they haven't reached the same iconic status as the Microkorg.
