Repeats are listed.... easy read if you know just a touch of reading music. the little x4 or x3 let you know how many times it will repeat.

many bass lines are the key notes from the rythmic guitar chords, but even then they're called bass lines, so yeah he is.

Yes, in some cases he's playing the bass line; in some cases he's playing the guitar line an octave lower; and, in other cases, he's matching the guitar. Sounds good, but if you're playing as part of a group with a guitarist, it'll probably sound better if you stick to the bass line.

Thing is he saved time by writing 3x for how many repeats you'll do. If you are playing at the same pace you will be focused on the notes. So unless you are mentally keeping up with how many notes your playing while also how many repeats your doing then you will get confused when it goes from 8, 8 times continuing to 1 and then it resets to 11 because thats the beginning of the line as opposed to where your transitioning to because it was formatted that way.
