@@seanwallaceseanie40 100% correct, but they did put out tunes in that timeframe with similar flavour... gish sounds a lot like the grunge going on in seattle at the time and was released sometime between Facelift and Nevermind so I give people a pass when they call pumpkins grunge. But they are a chicago band not a seattle band so it kinda rules them out.

However it was wonderful to watching the generations younger than mine enjoy the music I grew up with. Siamese Dream was an album I routinely stole from my brothers room, on penalty of death, because it was that good and I enjoyed it that much. It has such a more rough and sound to it and is my second favourite album of their next to Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. Cheers to you for giving this band a try!

Best SP album in my opinion. People rank MCIS higher than SP but I always liked SD a lot more. Its hard, sweet, dreamy and nihilistic at the same time. And the mixing makes it even better. SP, like all the best "alternative" bands of the time, had such a unique sound unto themselves. When a new song by them would come out, the first time you'd hear it, you'd be like, "Is this the new Smashing Pumpkins?" Just based on the intro. Like the Afghan Whigs, the Pumpkins had their own sounds. When you heard it, you knew.

For this album don't be fooled by the video. Lead vocals - billy Corgan Lead guitar - Billy Corgan Bass guitar - billy corgan D'arcy and James could barely play, so billy played thier parts in the studio. Billy liked that they were pretty.

I love hearing you try to sing these songs. : ) I've tried, but his voice is so unique, the only song I find I can do justice to is "Today."

I seen these guys in like 2012?? They played their new album from start to finish and we as a crowd were fucking pissed, but then, they played all their hits one after another at the end, which kicked fucking ASS! haha It was so good!
