My dad and I have always shared a passionate and undying love for the Smashing Pumpkins. Before I was born, he'd put headphones on my mom's belly and play the music, and I'd start moving around and reacting to the music. Then once I was born, he would sing this so me every night, and even as I got older, he played this for me before bed. My dad recently passed, but these are the kind of memories I'll cherish forever. The Smashing Pumpkins will forever hold such a special place in my heart!

I remember a radio competition running during the build up to the album's release. I actually got through one night but the effing DJ couldn't hear me and disconnected the call . Man was I pissed, but this was the song they were playing and the soothing piano at the end calmed me down to a point of bliss. Despite all my rage at the time it stands out as one of those beautiful warm fuzzy memories

My little baby boy passed away on Thursday 10 18 18. Farewell and Goodnight Is this song that I sang to him every night as a lullaby. I want it played as we say farewell and goodnight to him. This has given me comfort over the years even from when I was a teenager and I have sang it to all 3 of my children as I rocked them to sleep. For my beloved baby, my William Malcolm Xavier Bridges, Baby Malcolm, we love you and will love you always, love, your Momma. 💝8/2/18 - 10/18/18💔 FAREWELL AND GOODNIGHT MY LOVE

the piano ending is so good. Regardless of what the pumpkins is or isn't currently, I definitely wish he still had the pure energy and passion he used to have. I think the passion part of it is still there, but it's a different energy. Even with the most peaceful songs during his much more angry era, they still felt stronger than his best current songs do. It was really awesome finding this band when I was about 14 (when MCIFS was released) then going back through and listening to siamese dream and gish for the first time. This was the only band I really felt that stood out from just about every other musician and band during the 90's, it'll be sad to see him junk the band if he goes through with ending after the next album, but even with him here currently, he's just not killing it like he used to.

I agree. It just feels like something is missing. I get that he is older now, so he won't be able to scream like he used to,, but even the lyrics aren't nearly as good. I'd hate to say that because I love the pumpkins but I just feel like they haven't made a decent record since zeitgeist. Sure, Oceania had its moments, but I'm talking a great album from start to finish. Something is missing, I agree with you The great poetic lyrics are no more, the tightness of the albums is gone, and the latest album Cyr suffers from sameness and quite frankly some lame lyrics. Just compare the songs on Adore or Machina to the stuff on Monuments... It's like it's not the same man we knew and loved. I think he needs to take more time on albums, really work the songs and polish them, trim the fat, and make an album with 11 strong tracks, instead of rushing through 20 tunes that which many of them could've been cut, reworked, take two songs and blend them into one, etc

Goodnight to every little hour that you sleep tight. May it hold you through the winter of a long night, And keep you from the loneliness of yourself. Heart strung is your heart frayed and empty, 'Cause it's hard luck when no one understands your love. It's unsung and I say. Goodnight, my love, to every hour in every day. Goodnight, always, to all that's pure that's in your heart. Goodnight, may your dreams be so happy and your head light, With the wishes of a sandman and a night light. Be careful not to let the bedbugs sleep tight, nestled in your covers. The sun shines but I don't, A silver rain will wash away. The sun shines but I don't, A silver rain will wash away. And you can tell it's just as well. And you can tell it's just as well. Goodnight, my love, to every hour in every day. Goodnight, always to all that's pure that's in your heart.

All the band mates singing together and such a peaceful tune to listen to allow in your bed late at night! A perfect end to one of the best albums of all time. The way the closing piano matches the intro like a story book Billy wrote out for us! It's perfect!! I love the pumpkins! I hope that the reunion rumors come true we need James and Darcy back! Don't get me wrong the new pumpkins are are still okay yet all of them together adds something magical even if Billy wrote they influenced him and made perfection.

I think people who say they hate the pumpkins base that mostly on the stuff that made it to the radio, which, honestly... is not their best material. Hearing this, again, reminds me just how much range and scope the band had... and how distinct and unique their sound was. Although I still listen to everything WPC puts out, nothing quite worked on all levels like this album. Kills me that they got lumped into the whole Grunge thing, but you know, stupid critics love their buzzwords. MCIS touched my life in a way nothing else ever has, or probably, ever will again. It helped me through those difficult teen years where nothing seemed to matter, but somehow, although everyone around me seemed to misunderstand ... I could relate to every word on this gorgeous masterpiece. Every listen takes me back to that time, and as I get older, I appreciate it more and more and more. Thank God for the Smashing Pumpkins.
