So many rock drummers want to play like Portony, Carey, Dailor, etc. but I draw more inspiration from Jimmy here. He grooves so hard and plays so heavy without having to just bombard people. He looks comfortable.

Chamberlin is sort of like a punk rock version of Bill Kreutzman from The Dead. Just getting comfortably into the groove, emphasis when needed, allowing space within the song, and as J Slam says below in the comments, not bombarding the audience with too many fills, and deafening playing. Subtlety is important. All drummers should be able to play quietly when needed. Inspirational!
