I prefer the shield. I own a 40 Shield, and I’ve also owned a Glock 43, 26, 27, LCP, CPX 2. I’ve heard this from more than one channel, but to me it feels like a fighting gun. Just the right angle and it fills the hand. Love the channel bud 🇺🇸👍
@tommytP20002 жыл бұрын
Couldn't agree more regarding the fighting gun feel; especially over the LCP that you mention. I'm not at all a fan of that trigger. I live in California so am not privey to the Glock 43. I do not like the grip angle of glocks, so I really don't care for the 26 (havent shot a 27) so ended up going with an P2000sk .40 despite being an DA/SA trigger.

I acquired a Shield about a year and a half ago. I wasn’t sure what to make of it but the price was incredible. I’ve put as many rounds through it in that time as I have through other pistols I’ve had for 10 years. It’s really a great shooting gun, reliable and accurate. i like the shield, a lot. the grip can be a challenge, little too slick (poor texture) and very narrow. hogue handall jr helps a lot. adds grippy rubber texture, and a bit of palm swell. i find it shifts around a bit, so i'd crazy glue it in place for a carry gun, but it's great. if anyone has a shield and finds it difficult, handall is ~$10 and might help.

Promag makes a 10 rounder for this; however, there is debate on the reliability with such, which results in many not recommending carrying the promag 10 as a backup. As well, you can now buy + 1 for the s and + 2 baseplates to install onto the factory magazines which I'm hearing is reliable. But aside from all of that, great video. That trigger upgrade really made the difference for me hitting the target each time. It didn't make it a lighter pull, it changed the break and the reset, it also took out the gritty feel so now it's smooth. Just feels much better, like a really good trigger instead of just an okay trigger.

Smith & Wesson made their name selling revolvers during the civil war because soldiers couldn't afford Colts. Similar to today with Ruger and S&W.

Eh. It's not a bad gun. Actually it's fairly decent. But it's not for me. It only holds 1 (or 2) more rounds than my EDC and ammo capacity is really the main argument for semi-autos. True. But statistics suggest the odds or my having a need for my gun, having a need to discharge my gun and further needing more than the six rounds it carries are in the same league as my lottery tickets. In short, I'm not losing sleep over it. (FTR I do carry a speed loader.)

@4150CHF6 жыл бұрын
I am guessing for home defense since it is unlikely that you can conceal carry in Californistan. Glock 19 wins hands down in that case. 15 or 17+1 (G19) vs 7 or 8+1 (Shield) and Longer barrel (G19) = greater velocity. However, I would recommend a rifle caliber carbine with a quality light for home defense.
@williamryan74033 жыл бұрын
They are two completely different pistols. The Glock is a midsized offering. The shield is a subcompact. The shield is a far better choice for true concealed carry. The 19 can be concealed to with clothing,but in California it is more difficult with it's warmer climate. Also be aware that whether you have a permit or not any contact with police could result in you being shot if they see you with a gun showing in the State. I recommend a Smith and Wesson j frame DAO model. It is the best choice for concealed carry in California and will disappear in the pocket with proper holster.
@williamryan74033 жыл бұрын
@@4150CHF We are limited to 10 round capacity and concealed permits are hard to obtain in this State. The best choice for home defense is the 12 gauge pump,Jframe revolver for carry. Any high quality semi auto will do for general purpose or home defense backup because 10 rounds is all you get in California.My choice for that would be the CZ Rami with the decocker if you could find one. The Glock prints too much and will draw unwanted attention in this paranoid State of California.A well oiled and broke in Shield is good but it's not a beginners rig because it takes use and training . Everyone wants instant results these days.It takes a. 1000 rds or better training to get the shield broke in and develop proper muscle memory. I don't recommend trigger jobs etc. It will void warranty. There is no substitute for time and patience to break in a Smith and Wesson product.
@4150CHF3 жыл бұрын
Pump shotgun and J-frame are not the best choice in my opinion. Pump shotguns are notorious for short shucking (user error) under stress. The J-frame is awesome but it requires practice to become and remain proficient when compared to semi auto firearms. By the way, I sometimes carry a J-frame and I own a Mossberg 500.

@@4150CHF You can short stroke any firearm. Let's be honest, Like it or not in California we are limited in capacity and ammo options. Hey Chris, I'm a big fan of lucky gunner and I buy my ammo from you guys but I need some advice, I met a police chief in Texas and in his experience, 9mm was not an effective round at all, he talked about how criminals would take multiple hits with 9mm and they wouldn't stop. When he and his officers switched to .45 and .40 they didn't have stopping power issues. What .40 or .45 guns would you reccomend for concealed carry? Should I stick to 9mm? I can afford anything below 1,500 dollars so price isn't and issue. Thanks.

Stick with 9mm. Modern JHP 9mm ammo is in a different class than what was issued to LEOs 20 or 30 years ago. Departments using loads like 124 gr +P Speer Gold Dot have not had any complaints about the performance of 9mm.
@ahessent6 жыл бұрын
.45 is not a bad idea, and it's right between the 9mm and .40 as far as snappiness goes (in my exp). There's now a Shield in .45 acp, also Springfield XDS in .45, and a variety of .45 1911 commander/officer (look at Dan Wessons ECO/CCO or similar). 9mm is fine, but if you're really concerned you can try .45 or .40 (.40 in small/light guns is quite snappy for me) 9mm gives more ammo on board tho. Any thoughts on the new 380 Sheild EZ?

Only got 100 rounds through it so far, but I'm a fan. I'd buy my mom one.

M&p shield 9mm best single stack period. Buy American and don't get Glock leg Shield has a much safer trigger. Glock is good but not for carry.

Maldo Han Walther PPS m2 is better and it’s the same price. But it is German, so you might not like it.

museack The cool thing is, you can shoot them both and decide for yourself. But I will let you in on a little secret... it’s better.

I concur. But the Shield is far more popular.

Can't get a Walther PPS M2 in California unless it's used, and then it cost 2x the cost of retail. (And no, I'm not just going to move. I am going to stay and fight because these ridiculous anti-gun laws are starting to spread to other states.)

Difficult to load. The spring is very tight. Too tight, actually

Using phrases such as "guns going 'off'" puts a burr in my saddle. Pistols, handguns, firearms don't "go off," they get fired. This lends to the excuse, "the gun just went off." Regarding the Shield as a limited capacity (what's "unlimited?"), the mag capacity can be increased by two rounds for each 8 round and 7 round magazine allowing for the highest capacity to be 11 rounds and 10 rounds, using a Mag Guts spring kit. The drill portion is useful but my range doesn't allow head shots indoor.

HI, Egads2, Sadly for me living in Massachusetts, a mag holding more than 10 is not compliant, legally, and you will be breaking one of our, many beautiful gun, restrictions law.Also, this new Shield only comes with 2 mags a 7 round mag, and a 8 round mag, the shield, is excellent, and I love it..

Lmao. The VP9 was textbook hype train, turned out to be POS.

In most European countries, no defense gun is allowed. Airguns should not be used for this purpose (stupid idea), but there is one airgun, the Walther PPQ M2 T4E, by UMAREX (using .43 pepper or rubber) that is not illegal, yet. Do you think that it can be used as a tool (i am not calling it a gun) for defense purposes? (just in case one cannot run away from an intruder.)

Is pepper spray illegal? Because a good pepper spray is awesome.
