Taken from a Maxell NTSC VHS T-160 HGX Gold video tape that I received from a friend in NYC around 1999 also on this tape are recordings by The Police, Squeeze and The GoGo's. I ran most of this tape to DVD December 2018

GEM! Seen them in '86 and '88 in Wisconsin. Strangers When We Meet was the first song I learned on the guitar from this album. Still one of my all time favorite songs.

I saw them perform this song at Center Stage Atlanta GA in this era and the irony was this: I was at the show with a girl I was crazy about but she wouldn't break up with her boyfriend. I would have left my girlfriend in a heartbeat for her. She just wanted things to go along as they were, both of us cheating. Kinda like Kim Novak's character in the 1960 movie "Strangers When We Meet"

If I had to choose my favorite artists to take their cd to a bunker for the rest of my life and lets say you could only take 20 cds. Of course the Doors....all their CDs....of course all of STPs stuff.....(w Scott Weiland).....Beatles Stg Peppers, Zep 2 cds.......and maybe some odd ones like Lenny Kravitz Mama Said Fiona Apple....Pretenders first release....One sound Scape Cd from Carbon Based Lifeforms....but 2 of them would have to be one of my favorite bands of all time I kind of don't mention out loud in conversations about music because some people think they were overated but I'd have to pick "green thoughts" and "Especially for you". I actually met Pat Denizio by accident and had a conersation w him about what "green thoughts" was about.........he said envy. He was incredibly gifted w words.......in getting over a lady I was in love w for awhile......I found some of his lyrics in songs about relationships very comforting. I think Pat had his fair share of crushes and being let down by a women too. I love the lyrics to songs like "sentimental flowers" "Especially for you" "In a lonely place" ......In a lonley place he dueted w Suzzanne Vega in that one for those that don't know. The Smithereens could rock in songs like "World we Know" and Pats lyrics are just badass w his "sad but true" cynical take on things which is what 99% of blues music is about from women to life in general. Thanks Pat and the rest of the Smithereens for some great music I still revisit all this time later and your music is even better than I remember.
