@@tamuctamuc1256 Not true. Ive seen them maybe 40 times even before the first album came out and they were great 👍 then and now. Pat was a tremendous guy and a big loss but the Smithereens remain a outstanding band

Pat was the BEST. Always so kind EVERY time I spoke to him & EVERY time he said he loved me. I'm crying watching this. Even though I'm from The Beatles era, The Smithereens ARE The Beatles to me.

I love this. I got to see The Smithereens at Hammer Jack's in Baltimore, MD around '88-'91. So powerful, tight, melodic, perfect. RIP brother Pat

I REMEMBER THE SUMMER BEFORE JOHN LEFT US , WWOR SHOWED HELP SEVERAL TIMES AND I WATCHED IT EVERY TIME ! I EVEN RECORDED IT ON CASSETTE SO I COULD LISTEN TO THE MOVIE . MISS PAT SO MUCH . GOD BLESS

Maybe I'm biased because the Smithereens are one of my favorite alternative bands, but I like this version better than the Beatles'. Pat made this song his own. So sad to hear of his passing. I heard the news yesterday on Sirius XM's 1st Wave channel from announcer Richard Blade. Another awesome voice, and pen, gone, at least in this lifetime.

No! Too falsely overdramatic. C'mon: you don't have to sonically try to illustrate every word in the lyrics (Beatles For Dummies?). The song speaks, well. sings well for itself without hammering the listener over the head. Try an a capella version: I dare you.
