The Smiths - Barbarism Begins at Home [Reaction]

When my ex-wife was pregnant with our daughter I said I didn't want our child being hit - ever, because it doesn't work and only encourages them to be more devious about getting caught and not to think about their actions because all they do is spend that time feeling resentful about being hit. My ex-wife insisted I must be crazy because she would grow up without any discipline and just become a delinquent yadda yadda. She said 'well I used to get hit if I was naughty (as did I) and it never did me any harm'. And I said well it obviously did you the harm of thinking it's okay to hit children. Anyway, she eventually accepted my way and even after we divorced a few years later she carried on that policy. My daughter is now at university and she's basically never been in any trouble at home or school or college or with her friends, at least nothing I can remember. And to me, that proves that hitting children doesn't work, it's counterproductive and it's really just a parents' way of taking out their own frustrations on a small child. If hitting an adult is assault why isn't hitting a child? I'm sure I'm going to hear from a load of morally upstanding ppl who took a different view and raised wonderful kids but I'd say that's probably in spite of being hit and not because of it. My daughter couldn't possibly be a more well-behaved and well adjusted young adult, so in our case it was obviously unnecessary.

Wow Marcos that was some reaction. Totally unexpected but you're correct all the way through. Poor kids abused in our communities need support, not to be thrown on the scrapheap at an early age. Not surprised of your glowing reaction to this song. When I hear Barbarism I hear 4 talented blokes simply showboating, for me it's like they said before recording "let's just go for it!" And they certainly delivered.

I saw The Smiths live in September 1985 and the thing I remember best was everyone asking for Barbarism to be played and Morrissey saying “we don’t play Barbarism anymore” it’s an amazing song

Been checking out your channel for a bit after seeing your Deftones reactions and don't know how i didn't notice you had reactions to The Smiths which is other favorite band. Had some fun going through all your reactions to them so far and it's funny how you went from standoff-ish/unimpressed with them at first to a genuine fan over the course of a few months. I grew up in the same English system as Morrisey ,beating kids was seen as being a good parent ,we know better after my Generation grew up wanting fights ,and causing Hooliganism from football matches to concerts
