In that comment section, when someone was praising the bass line in that song, and someone brought this song up like they stole it. Now I go to this song and someone's praising its bass line and here you are saying it came from Blondie! I've listened to all 3 at this point and I hear the similarities, but I'd like to mention a little thing about music. Everyone doesn't have to come up with their own completely unique and original beat and tune. Inspiration and borrowing is the reason for some of the best songs in the world.

I saw them in the hot Summer of 1984 at the packed Hollywood Palladium right at the apron of the stage. I had a welt across my chest from the barrier for two week after-a proud battle scar. Morrissey and Marr were larger than life, but Rourke and Joyce’s performances were beyond brilliant. This song is forever etched in my musical mind as one of the tightest live rhythm performances I’ve seen in my 40 years of live shows. Thank you Smiths!

In British and Irish society at the time of Morrissey's childhood, the priest, teacher and doctor were revered and could do no wrong. I woiuld imagine this song is a commentary on the fact that no matter what a child would say, his/her opinion was always wrong, therefore one would get a slap on the head for speaking out. I know, as it was a regular response for me as a child, if I would ask about a certain thing or not ask, the punishment would be the same, the authority figure was always in the right. I hope that kind of answers your question.
