This is gonna sound odd... Nothing makes me happier than The Smiths/Morrissey in the Summertime. I don't know why. My birthday was yesterday. I can't get this song out of my head or, "Unhappy Birthday." I think it's like how the blues are so sad that people who hear it make them feel good/happy... Originally, I think he used to hold flowers because of the fact that they represented peace - a bit like the famous antiwar image of a flower being fired out of a gun. However, I think they didn't want to be associated with the whole hippie movement of the late 60s. It might have something to do with his hero, Oscar Wilde too, because I can remember Morrissey once saying how he liked the idea of Oscar Wilde always carrying a flower with him, wherever he went.
