That outro has to be the most orgasmic 40 seconds in punk history

Agreed. That's why I'm here, wanting to hear that drumming. I'm a guitarist, love Marr, but also highly respect the other musicians from the smiths.

Marrs playing is the ideal counterfoil for Morrissey. Upbeat, sardonic, triumphalist , lugubrious, and always a beautiful valedictory of a coda

My favourite Smiths song by far. It captures their live sound more than anything else. I am so lucky to have had a friend get me into them back when I was a kid. They last forever!

One of the best Smiths songs ever In my humble opinion

This song says everything you need to know about Thatcherism tearing families apart. The youth of the North West of England had to go to London if they wanted any chance of a job. As Tebbit said, "Get on yer bike." It's such a brilliant song absolutely rooted in the reality of experience of my generation. Morrisey at this time was a poet.

An absolute punk-influenced hand grenade of a song. Blistering, and the subtly spiteful lyrics are pure Morrissey. A masterpiece.

Smoke Lingers 'round your fingers Train Heave on - to Euston Do you think you've made The right decision this time? Oh... You left Your tired family grieving And you think they're sad because you're leaving But did you see Jealousy in the eyes Of the ones who had to stay behind? And do you think you've made The right decision this time? You left Your girlfriend on the platform With this really ragged notion that you'll return But she knows That when he goes He really goes And do you think you've made The right decision this time?

A random thought...but My chemical romance have stated that The Smiths influenced them so much and I can 100% see it with this specific song. I love both bands so much. And this song. Gosh.

@@gonzaortellado1743 Yeah, I dont like Strangeways at all, and was a huge Smiths fan at the time, saw them live, but hated Strangeways and similarly dont care about their respective solo careers.

Does anyone else think this song is a dig about Billy Duffy? If you've seen the film England is Mine you'll know what I mean. But I always thought a lot of Morrissey's lyrics were sly digs at Billy. 'We hate it when our friends become successful' is another one that reeks of his resentment towards what happened with The Nosebleeds.
